Before my Pinterest days,
when I was roaming around Blogland
I ran across a blog featuring really cool, framed date art.
I have looked and looked but can’t find the blog again.
This blogger inspired me to make my own…but I’ll get to that in a minute.
I so wish I could give her credit for my project. Mine turned out almost exactly like hers.
Here are some examples of what I’m talking about…

If you have a color printer, the sky’s the limit. All of these can be done with a basic program such as Microsoft Word
and can be printed from a regular printer.
So here’s what I came up with.
I went to Hobby Lobby to brave the scrapbook paper aisle.
I got 2 different kinds of vellum, printed paper and 1 piece of red paper.
I also got these letters.
They were a disaster and I don’t recommend them.
So on to plan B.
I used Microsoft Word and typed out my dates.
After debating on a font I ended up with this one.
I used a laser printer…this was the result.
I used this order for my dates:
My husband’s birthday.
My birthday.
Our wedding date.
My daughter’s birthday – she’s the oldest.
My son’s birthday.
My husband’s birthday.
My birthday.
Our wedding date.
My daughter’s birthday – she’s the oldest.
My son’s birthday.
On to framing.
The frames weren’t on sale at Hobby Lobby so I went to Kohl’s.
$14.99 and the mat came with it.
I used blue tape because I thought I might want to switch it out at some point.
Tape the vellum to the mat.
I backed the vellum with a few different styles of paper.
Here I’m showing the red.
I also used one of these little hearts
between my kids’ birthdates.
Here is plain vellum on black damask paper on my yellow wall.
Not sure.
This is plain vellum on blue paisley on my blue kitchen wall.
Sort of like this one…
Here’s the winner.
Printed vellum on red in my entry.
Cost of this project:
Frame $14.99
Vellum $.69
Backer scrapbook paper $.59
Hearts $1.99
For under $20 you can have a personalized piece of art reflecting your family.
I have a confession to make.
This is actually my second try.
The first time around I had my husband’s birth date wrong.
I was only off by one day but you should have seen his face.
It was priceless!
Thanks for stopping by…

I am looking at my trial run right now. But I like your idea of the vellum…so I think I will try that. What font did you use if you don't mind. It is hard to find one that will get big enough..
Oh that is priceless. Poor hubbie. I love how this turned out. The blue and the red look amazing – must have been hard to choose. Looks great in the entryway though.
Cute idea, Ann!
This was a super idea & it turned out beautifully.
Omg-That is so rich! My DH would be shocked too.
Isn't it crazy how some days you can't even remember your own name? I always blame horomones.
I like the way yours turned out.
I think anything would look good on that red (my favorite) wallpaper!
Well done!! I really like this! Cathy

I like it! There something about having a piece that is special just to the family – like those special words known only in the family.
Really like it Ann! I am a scrap booker and you did a good job! That is what I have been doing all day. Scrapping!
This is wonderful…I really like it a lot, so clever!

I loved the idea. 'Framed Dates' look beautiful. Also, the ones with the details of newborns are something I would love to do someday when I have kids! Pinning it NOW, so that I don't forget about it years down the lane ;)
