I'm Feelin' It
August is rolling right along...
before we know it Labor Day will be here.
To me that signals the official beginning of Fall.
I stash away my white shoes and white pants...
even though everyone says you don't have to.
I still do it.
College football starts...finally something to watch
on Saturday afternoons.
(Go Irish!)
The best thing though is fluffing the house...
and I've already started.
The plate rack in my entry has this bottom shelf where I can
lay seasonal bits and pieces.
Some sticks from my yard...fall leaves and mini sunflowers.
I stopped in the grocery to get dog treats
and these sunflowers were right there in the main entrance.
It was just meant to be.
Fall means different things to different people.
To me it signals the end of the planting season
but the beginning of the holiday season.
It means pumpkins and bittersweet.
It means comfort food.
Baked squash with butter and brown sugar.
Chicken and noodles, mac and cheese, hearty soups.
A new school year.
Sweater weather.
So...
what does Fall mean to you?

Oh, you guys are making me want to rearrange and decorate. And yet I am in the midst of figuring out a move to another state in the next couple of months. You are keeping me entertained!
Brenda
Amen!! I love it for all the same reasons!
Just love your wallpaper..the sunflowers look great with it
Beautiful vignette Ann! I am so very ready for Fall this year!
Gee, you make want to get out all the fall things I have! Love those sunflowers and what a great entryway Ann!
I just adore your sunflowers. Fall means a lot of the same things as you, but I cannot wait to put on my cowboy boots and jeans MOST OF ALL! I'm chomping at the bit! Told you I'm a country girl.
I'm jealous that you starting adding a little fall to your home! I've been wanting to, but for some reason I keep talking myself out of it.
Fall means crisp apples, beautiful trees, walking on crunchy fallen leaves, pumpkins & cinnamon, sweaters & pie. Ahhh, I love fall!
Your fall touches are perfect, Ann...I love those sweet plates! I'm getting inspiration for some fall decorating little by little but just can't let go of summer yet! Your home has the perfect backdrop for those deep, rich colors. Love your sunflowers!!
XO,
Janie
Oh I just love Fall Ann...it is my favorite time of year for decorating. Means so many different things to me, however mainly spending the holidays with Family. My Mom and sis come every Thanksgiving and we usually take them to a city they have never been for the weekend. We have made so many wonderful memories for my boys to remember.
P.S. Love your start of Fall decorating, sunflowers are the best.
Love fall and you sunflowers!
I love fall! It is one of my favorite times of year :) I am looking forward to pumpkins spiced lattes and wearing boots!
Love your fall touches Ann! Fall is my favorite time of year and after the hot summer we've had I am so ready for it to come!! Martina
You just knew I had to show up here, didn't you? I think I'll save your post and feature it one day. Is that okay? Love the sunflowers!! Oh and by the way, I don't wear white after Labor Day either!
Fall means the same things to me
Ann but I'm still hanging on to summer for a while longer! Your "late summer" touches are nice. :-) Have a great week!
The fall and on through the holidays is my favorite time of year!
xo Cathy
...who has fresh sunflowers on the kitchen counter!
I love decorating for fall and the cooler weather, but I don't want to rush it. As bad as the heat has been this summer, I don't look forward to winter, I hate being stuck inside when it is so cold.I agree no white shoes after Labor Day, but I also don't do fall till then. Of course that hasn't kept me from picking up a few fall things....
I LOVE LOVE fall ~ my favorite season! Cooler temps, fall clothes, cinnamon & other spices, candles, funky socks, comfort foods, baking bread, football, pumpkins, leaves changing, apple pie...anything and everything related to fall.
xo

I love fall too Ann. But it is over 100 in Texas so it's hard to "feel" it. But my granddaughter starts school on Monday so that is the official start for me. Love school supplies ~ pumpkins ~ sunflowers ~ and pumpkin spiced lattes!!
All your beautiful fall colors make me smile. I'm a big fall fan.
Your Fall additions are pretty, and Fall is probably my favourite season but with back to school comes back to work for me. I'm holding onto the last of summer, and my vacation. But I do look forward to cooler weather.
The colors in your entry really lend themselves to your fall decorations. So lovely. Fall means bonfires, football, and oyster roasts to me. I'll be pulling out my fall decorations soon.
Ann, I love the shelf and I want some sunflowers. My store does not have them yet for some reason.
Fall means no more hot sticky weather and the smell of leaves fallen. I love that woodsy smell.
Ann, I love your description of what fall means to you! I could use that for my own. I will say that in the continued 103-106 days I can't even think about it too much yet! Grrrr... I did knit two pumpkin hats for my grandsons... I know it will get cooler for them much sooner than here. LOVE your sunflowers and all that is fall! blessings ~ tanna
Autumn is my favorite season, but I'm not quite ready to give up on summer. The sun flowers you picked up are gorgeous - so right at this time of year.
Ann, you are so making me want to start the fall decorating but it is still so HOT in Mississippi! A friend said her golden rod had started blooming, old timers say that means 6 weeks until the 1st frost! OH HOW I HOPE SO!
I love the sunflowers; so pretty!
I agree, I got rid of most of my flowers outside this last weekend. I am just tired of watering them and then with all the heat and humidity we had they were looking really bad anyway. I am ready for fall mums and pumpkins!
Fall is my favorite time of year; I hate what comes after!
Take care! Jodi
Wow, you have a gorgeous blog. Would love for you to stop by My Dream Canvas. Take care Anu
All those things....I love fall and the crisp air! Have a wonderful Wednesday!
I'm so ready for fall. We love college football too...but at our house, it's GEAUX TIGERS!
Hi Ann! I do love Fall and the beautiful colors of the leaves. Your shelf and plates are lovely and the sunflowers are a favorite.

Hi Ann! OH, this is so pretty. I love your little plate shelf and that wallpaper! Your plates are all so pretty and the sunflowers are so happy.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Fall looks good at your house, I am more of a spring. Thanks, Richard at My Old Historic House.
I love fall. To me, it means football season. Go HOKIES!
I am ready for Fall but it will be hot here for a long time still. I grew sunflowers this summer so I think of them as summer flowers now but love them no matter the season. Your plate rack is very pretty. Thanks for hosting the party for the next few weeks. ♥olive
I feel the same way about fall. Love those dishes, jackets, jeans. Yea!!!
This looks lovely. don't know how you find the time.
I'm not thinking of fall because I still want desperately to hang on to summer! :-)
Thanks for stopping by to see how I paint.
Love the color of the entryway...and the hardware on your door!
Sunflowers are always wonderful...
Fall to me? Favorite colors, clothes, food, and my birthday!
Hi Ann; I totally love your red wallpaper! I also enjoyed looking through your blog. I too have been DIYing since before it was cool :) Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting on my blog recently.

Hi Ann...
Ohhh my...it certainly is beginning to look like Autumn at your place! Autumn is my favorite season as well. I love the rich, warm colors of Autumn...ahhh!
Well sweet lady, I have to tell you that every time I see that gorgeous red wallpaper in your entry, I just oooh and aaah!!! You should hear me! wink! Hehe! I love how you added the pretty miniature sunflowers and autumn leaves to the bottom shelf of the plate rack! And...the bouquet of sunflowers are simply gorgeous! I love that bright, sunny yellow against the red! Thank you for sharing a few snippets of the coming season with us!
Warmest wishes,
Chari
I am still in summer mode! This has been an awesome month for us!
I love your red wallpaper...beautiful!!
Ann, the fall touches you have added to your home cause me to realize I need to at least start thinking about decorating for fall. The weather here is still very hot so it is not easy to think fall except to wish for the cooler weather.
Your little plates in the rack are very pretty. Have a great weekend. Shannon
i don't know if i'm ready for fall yet...but your autumn entry does look pretty...thanks for linking up to fridays unfolded!

I absolutely love Fall! To me it means that the "season" finally matches my favorite decor colors -- so nice to be coordinated! Your plate rack is so pretty & looks perfect with the added touches of fall. I'm also crazy about sunflowers, so I'm hoping my local store will have some today when I shop, & that they just jump right into my basket!
:) CAS
Hello dear Ann,
I still stash away my whites, too. I always will.
I love Fall, the leaves falling, the shorter days, the hearty soups and chilis.
I love every season, but I still love summer best.
I really like the sunflowers! I should have planted some of those.
Hugs, Cindy
Are your tomatoes getting ripe yet? We have eaten two large juicy tomatoes off of my plants so far, they were beautifully red and so delicious!!!
Pretty! But I am not ready, yet :)
Rene

Hi Ann! Found you through Sherry's blog and I'll be linking up later to the Open House Party! I've been going down your posts and had to comment on this one because I am so ready for Fall, too. Last night I actually felt we got a little glimpse of it with the way the sun was coming in our back windows. I'm your newest follower!
Ann thank you for your very kind comment! It made my day!
Your home is absolutely beautiful! I'm so glad you took over Sherry's party (for awhile) so I could discover your blog. I know I'll spend lots of time here *winks* Vanna
Love the sunflowers. They always remind me of happy faces. I am ready for summer to be over, I love fall:)
