Bittersweet

I went out a few days ago and cut my bittersweet.
Not as many berries as I had hoped.
But what was there is beautiful.
Last fall I cut the vines back.
This year I think I’m leaving them alone.
Maybe next year I’ll get more berries.
If anyone has advice on how to
grow this stuff I’m all ears.
Moving on.
Well…here she is.
This was a huge step for me.
Actually it was a giant leap.
So far I’ve managed to charge the battery.
I hope my next blog post has pictures
taken with my new friend.
I thought I’d close by sharing this
picture of my kids.
They are happy and healthy and I’m filled with gratitude.
But I miss them all the time.
Bittersweet.

Thanks for visiting.

Wow, our bitter sweet berries haven't turned the vibrant orangey red yet. I think when I purchase mine, you needed 2 male plants for every female plant to make them germinate properly. I just ordered a new camera also and all I have done is charge the battery. I also purchased the "for dummies" book in hopes of an easier learn. Who knows, I may give up and send it all back.

All your fall touches are so pretty! What beautiful children you have.Happy decorating.

Oh, you will love taking pictures once you figure it out. The Scott Kelby book with my camera book helped me. I also use a tripod most of the time in my house. Love those berries. I don't have any of that and it would be wonderful to decorate with.

Oh, I just love your bittersweet branches! Do you think they would grow well here in the NW? You arranged them so beautifully and I'm totally jealous of your new friend! :-) Your "kids" definitely look happy and healthy and that is a testament to their mom for sure. Thanks so much for sharing with us at Inspiration Friday Ann!

You won't be bittersweet with this new baby! You'll have those great-looking kids posing for many, many photos!

Glad you got your new camera. I would love to know more about bittersweet. Yours is pretty but I know you wanted more. Maybe fertilizer! You have piqued my interest that maybe I could grow it too. Did you buy a plant or plant seeds? I thought it did not grow well in warmer climate so I haven't thought about trying to grow it.

    You have good looking kids!

I have never known anyone to raise bittersweet? At home there is a little ole lady that goes out in the woods and cuts it. I love decorating with it..it just says fall

I love bitter sweet, but hate putting it in the house. It drops those berries every where. Any suggestions? I usually just use it out side. I have not picked any this year but need to get at it soon. Richard from My Old Historic House.

Yay for you getting a new "baby!" You are gonna have some fab pictures to show off, and knowing you, they will be REALLY fab.

I used bittersweet all over my mantel…love it! But mine is sadly Walmart brand. Still looks good:) I'd love to have it real!!

Love the bittersweet and your new camera. Lots of fun that camera. Relax and enjoy…and practice…the best advice I can give.:-)

    Happy Weekend!

  26. 26

I guess I can't help with the growing tips because I didn't realize bittersweet was the name of a plant. So,…sorry.

Your children are beautiful, of course, but that Canon.. Whew,…insert whistle here. Congrats! You'll pick it up in no time.

  27. 27

Your kiddos are beautiful and it is bittersweet when they leave us I know. The plant bittersweet does not grow in this hot part of Georgia to my knowledge. Enjoy that camera. If my kiddo ever gets out of college I will get one too.

I know nothing about the bittersweet plant… but, plenty about the bitersweet of being happy your children are happy, but still missing them tons. It is bittersweet. The plant is very pretty, especially with your fall arrangement! Look forward to hearing about your new toy and seeing the photos! blessings ~ Tanna

Bittersweet grows wild here, it is all over the place!
Good luck with the new camera. Stock up on those 4gb cards! :)

  35. 35

Lucky pup to have bittersweet growing outside in your own yard…I pay a bundle for a small bundle of bittersweet and what I'd give to have it growing in my yard.

Love all your pictures….the camera – SCORE…I love my Rebel Canon and hope you'll be as happy as I've been, it goes EVERYWHERE with me and easy to use since I have little experience with photography

    Enjoy the weekend friend!!
