Sharing Sunday ~ Vintage Linens

Hey everyone!
A few weeks ago I mentioned purchasing some vintage and new linens for my Etsy shop and for Miss Mustard Seed. I finally was able to take some pictures but the lighting was terrible. It was a dreary afternoon but I had a few free hours so I had to go for it.
This isn’t vintage but it’s 100% linen.
I have this creamy white…

and this flax color.

I had never worked with 100% linen before I opened my shop.
It’s absolutely gorgeous but at times it’s difficult.
It sort of stretches…so measuring (not my strong point anyway)
is sometimes a challenge.
This is referred to as vintage toweling or sometimes mangle cloth.
Technically mangle cloth has to be 100% linen so I’m never
really sure exactly what I have.

This piece was heavier.
(Don’t you just love the lighting?)
Here is how this piece looked when in arrived in the mail.
These runners turned out much better than I expected.
I got 2 out of this piece and they were sent off to Miss Mustard Seed.
I recently made a new Etsy friend.
Claudia Violette (don’t you just love that name?)
worked with me to find some linens I could afford…
and that would work with what I was doing.
Most Etsy merchants take care to package their
items so you feel like you are receiving a present.
Christmas all year round.

I purchased some toweling (it might be mangle cloth…not sure)

and this lovely linen.

She stuck this towel in as a special gift for me.
I was so excited…I am keeping it for myself for sure.
I will work it into my Christmas decorating.
I am still working on my living/dining room update. I’ve made the window panels and re-covered the dining room chairs. The reason I had to take these photos in my kitchen was because the dining room was a disaster. I need to get it together though because my yellow island just doesn’t cut it!
I know we are all so busy right now…I’m not going to complain or bore you with my life story. I’m going to come right out and say I have too many irons in the fire. I know deep down I have taken on too much at this time of year. I’m just hoping I don’t totally crash and burn.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I am so thankful for the blessings in my life.
They are too many to count.

I think your honesty is great and I bet most of us fit in the exact place of taking on too much. We all need to slow down. And yes, we have so much to be thankful for.

I love your runners and the vintage toweling material. Do you remember the old rack on a door with a loop of linen towel on it. You'd pull it down for a clean spot to dry your hands. :) The good old days!

Ann, you are doing a great job on so many things I don't know how you do it. Your work doesn't reflect how frazzled you must feel, everything looks perfectly made. Keep turning out the beautiful work but be sure to take at least a little time for yourself along the way. Did I say that? I know that is a good idea because that's exactly the advice my wise Mom gives me. I am going to follow her advice someday. I have a feeling that's how you will respond.—-

I love all those fabrics you showed. Your table runners look great. I bet they'll sell fast. Sorry to hear how overwhelmed you're feeling. I know how easy that can happen when you feel pulled in so many different directions. Hope everything will calm down soon so you can enjoy the holidays.
