Sharing Sunday ~ Filling the Nest
Last fall I was fortunate enough to begin
a working relationship with Miss Mustard Seed herself.
I shamelessly sent her 2 huge boxes of
items from my Etsy shop.
She had shared on her blog that her business was
growing so fast that she couldn't keep up.
She had decided to start out-sourcing.
I couldn't get those boxes in the mail fast enough!
She liked my stuff and placed 2 large (for me) orders.
Some things flew out the door of Lucketts and some things didn't.
(Mama Mustard Seed got a few of the left-overs.)
Fast forward to today.
Marian has down-sized her space at Lucketts and is writing a book.
No more orders.
So much for my big break...
In reality, it was probably the best thing that could have happened.
It forced me to focus on my Etsy shop.
I had to count on myself, instead of someone else, to make my dreams come true.
As a result, I have discovered things inside my soul that I didn't know were there.
I have dreams now where there once was an empty nest.
I have filled that empty nest and all those empty hours
with things I love.
Sewing.
Blogging.
Learning new things.
Dreaming.
Thank you to any and all of you who have stuck by me
as I have figured this all out.
I'm not saying I have all the answers.
But I feel as though I'm one step closer to
making my dreams come true.
All on my own.

Good for you for staying with it! I find sometimes life doesn't take us where we think it will...but enjoy the journey!
I love this post! I feel so much the way you do. If not for painting furniture and changing up flea market finds, I don't think I'd be nearly as happy as I am today. God luck to you....Sue
What a great post Ann! Nice to have that self revelation, and reflect on it. Tis, so true. You do beautiful work and I have no doubt you will be successful in everything you do!
I'm so happy for you Ann and proud of your accomplishments to date. I know you have a lot more in store - you're just that kind of person. Yay to you my dear.
Ann, I have no doubt that you will make your dreams come true. I imagine that you are the kind of person that makes things happen. And you're right. You can only depend on yourself to make those dreams come true. So glad that we're on this blogging adventure!
I think it's wonderful that you're doing this on your own now. You may still consider selling some of items in someone else's store in addition to your own shop, but just the fact that you have set a plan of action is great.

Congratulations, Ann, I'm so happy for you. I wish I had the money to order something from you, unfortunately, at this time I am counting my pennies just to get a few things to make for my home.
I wish you all the best, though!
Hugs, Cindy
Way to go!
I have a feeling that I'll be feeling very smug one day, thinking 'I read her blog when she was just starting out'.
Things happen for a reason.....most people never follow their dreams....you have amazing taste and such a great eye for decorating. I know you will be a huge success.
Ann
It sounds as if you've learned to go with the flow. It takes a while to discover what's going to be your best marketing outlet. But you are well on your way.
Your persistance will pay off in the end!
Ann, Thank you for sharing.... I do not have a blog... but I sure do love all things "Home" and just doing things at home myself!! I LOVE stopping by Sutton Place... Your blog is just beautiful and FULL of wonderful ideas, etc. !!!! Looking forward to where all this takes you!!!!!After all... the JOURNEY is a big part of the JOY!! Terri
Good for you. I have my new blog and it is hard getting started and to get followers but I am hanging in there and I figure my time will come.
You have a nice page and I am glad I joined it a while ago.
I look at it as a big roller coaster...up and down....up and down....twists and bends...wows and screams! The best thing is you tried and learned something along the way. You do beautiful work...keep it up!
When one door closes...you are talented and creative. More people will have the pleasure of finding that out as time goes on.
I found such comfort in your words today. My nest to full right now with two teenagers, one of whom is requiring a ton out of me. It was a nice reminder that perhaps, not too long in the future, I will have plenty of time to do all that I want to do and I have to remind myself that right now, they are the priority. Thanks for the affirmation. :) So glad you have found something...
Well, you sound very grounded in your thinking right now and that is good. Don't you love it when you get to that point where clarity starts to set in and the fog lifts, so to speak. Personally, I have sometimes found that the harder I looked the less obvious it became but then left alone to figure it all out I haves experienced that a-ha moment.
