Until Next Year ~ Goodbye Downton

It's over.
No more anticipation. No more looking forward to Sunday night.
It was wonderful though...wasn't it?

Of course I'm referring to Season 2 of Downton Abbey.
Personally, it was everything I had hoped it would be.
There were a few slow scenes here and there...
and I was disappointed that Sybil was missing
from the last episode.
Other than that I was completely and utterly delighted.

The clip below is called
"The Best Maggie Moments."
There were more than a few...
I think she had the best one-liners I've ever heard.

Watch Downton Abbey: The Best Maggie Moments on PBS. See more from Masterpiece.

Getting back to Sybil...
I read that she will be back for Season 3.
Most likely pregnant.

Season 3 will pick up the lives of our friends
(and they are friends, aren't they?)
 in the 1920's.
Female hair styles will be bobs and spit curls.
Ragtime jazz, the Charleston and
poor Mr. Bates still in prison.

Thank heavens we said goodbye to
the disagreeable Mr. Carlisle.

I don't know about you...
but I did breathe a huge sigh of relief
when Lord Grantham put a stop to the hanky-panky
with Jane the maid.
That would have just been too much.

Julian Fellowes didn't disappoint with the ending.
Matthew proposed to Mary.
(Wasn't the snow the perfect touch?)
I thought for sure she was going to America to stay with her grandmother.

Speaking of Mary's grandmother...
enter Shirley MacLaine.

She'll be playing Cora's American mother.
Can you just imagine the scenes with her and Maggie Smith?

Makes me smile just thinking about it.

(If you are using Internet Explorer the video may not play.
I checked it on Chrome and Mozilla and it worked great.)

Yes, I love this show, and have gotten several friends and family to watch it. Made Sunday nites so much more bearable, with Monday mornings on the horizon! I will be mentioning Carson the butler in my post this week, my favorite character.

I just started watching this a couple of weeks ago. My mom loves it and asked if I was watching it. I will be sure and tune in for the next season.

Isn't Maggie just the cat's meow? I adored her in Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. Downton Abbey is one dvd series I absolutely have to have. And your music for the video was just perfect hahaha.

Ann, I've never seen an episode at all....ever! And I so want to. (We don't have a satelite dish or cable) Do you know if there are DVD's available of Season 1 and 2? If so, where might I get them. I would love to see them and get caught up. Who is the actress who plays Maggie? She looks familiar. Thanks Ann and I hope you have a great week ahead. Pamela

This series brought be so much joy. My daughter, who lives in England, told me the next series hasn't begun in England yet. So I am afraid we have awhile to wait.

Fondly,

I seriously cannot wait for season 3! I had that "oh no what am I going to do on Sunday nights now" moment last week but I agree that the finale didn't disappoint. I just hope they don't bring back any of that story line with Lord Grantham and the maid again. Ugh! I'm relying on you Ann to give me a heads up when you hear about when season 3 will start! :-)

Thank you so much for the Maggie video! I literally laughed out loud, I think the Dowager Countess is fabulous & hilarious in every way!
I have to agree, I was so glad when Lord Gratham stopped the nonsense with Jane. I was thrilled when Matthew finally proposed. I was getting worried there for awhile.
I going to miss Downton on Sunday nights.

Oh, Ann, this has been my guilty pleasure. I just love Downton! Of course, I love all the characters (even O'Brien and Thomas!) but my absolute favorite character is the Dowager! Maggie Smith steals the show!!

I love Violet, she does have the best one liners. I went back and watched season one in two days and would have watched more gladly.

I've only seen one episode, but fell hard in love with the show. My daughter told me last night that she bought the entire 2 seasons, so I will be able to watch from the beginning and understand all that I have missed. Thanks for reading and commenting on my blog tonight.

I loved every minute.... cannot wait for season 3..... How could they leave us hanging on Mr. Bates situation!!!! AND I love Maggie!!! her one liners just crack me up!!!!! This series was so beautifully done!!!!! I already miss them!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Maggie Smith's character is my favorite. I wish I could come up with zingers like that! For me, the whole Bates story line is getting tiresome. I don't know why I could never warm up to him. I'm curious what's going to happen to Daisy.

Shirley! Perfect choice for the "American Grandmother"!

I can wait for season three.

I wonder when they'll drop the bomb and have Anna expecting too?

Oh Ann I am in complete mourning. I may have to take to wearing black. Why make us wait so long. It is such a beautifully filmed show and yes Maggie Smith is awesome.
