My Grown-Up Blog

The other night I was roaming around blogland
and happened upon Thistlewoodfarm.
I've been there before but not for a while.
Karianne is hosting a thought-provoking, scary
and not-your-normal linky party.
Here's the theme:
List 5 things you want your blog to be when it grows up.
(Told you it was scary.)

So here goes.
I have all these ideas in my head of what I want
my blog to look like.
Hopefully some (if not all) of these ideas
will come about when I make the move to Wordpress.
I'm really nervous about the whole thing...
but I want better organization and I want things
to be easier to find.

There are so many things I don't know.
Sometimes it is honestly just plain overwhelming.
One of those things is graphic design.
I'd love to be able to add graphics to my blog on my own.
This is a hard one.
I don't know how to find the time to
seek out sponsors, contact them, follow up, etc.
It takes consistency.
You have to be dependable.
Like I said...a hard one.
I'd love to be one of those fun blogs with a weekly linky party.
At this point in my life that is just not going to happen.
Not enough hours in the day.
I have accepted that...sort of.
I'd love to be a part of a blog hop
or a themed series of parties.
Maybe someday...

My blog is about family and home-keeping.
It's about helping other bloggers when I can.
It's about listening and sharing.
It's about gratitude and humility.
Most importantly it's about being honest.
Being myself,

Well...I did it.
I wasn't quite sure how this was going to turn out.
I'm so looking forward to reading all of your plans and goals.
It will definitely be blogland at it's best.

Wow, Ann - that is a very ambitious list, and knowing you, a very do-able one for you!
I look at my blog and know that it needs work, but right now it is all I can do to just post a couple of times a week. Between work, travel for work, house and house keeping (not to speak of family!) I am running as fast as I can!

You will do great at all of the above Ann. Best wishes on moving to Word press, I bet you are nervous, but it will all work out.

You can do all five. In good time. I was far more efficient when I worked I think. Now I loll a bit but I also garden and cook healthy food so it all evens out. I am blogging nearly every day and that was an unspoken goal for me. Joe and I have goals together and we shall see what happens. best to you, olive

p.s. thanks for your sweet comment this week

How in the world do you do those different fonts? You are better than you realize, Ann. Like your past post, your pictures were crystal clear. I felt like that cinnamon treat was sitting right in front of me. You are doing a beautiful job with all you DO know.

I was thinking how good you blog is now. I don't know how it could look nicer. The design is great-so attractive. As far as doing a linky party which you would do well but honestly.... HOW does everyone have time to read as many as there are? I love to read and want to comment but it take a HUGE BLOCK of time. Just posting every week or so keeps me busy. Don't be hard on yourself. Pat yourself on the back. We enjoy your blog.

I applaud your setting your goals and being willing to share those. It always takes a lot of courage to step out with a dream. My hat is off to you and I'm betting you will achieve every one of these. blessings ~ tanna

Ann-It sounds to me like you have a handle on what you want to happen with your blog and that is the biggest step of all, I think. You are on the right track, Ann, and I always feel like your blog represents the REAL YOU! xo Diana

Hi Ann,
You have some wonderful goals for your blog, and I'm sure you will achieve them eventually. I think your blog looks wonderful. How do you do those marvelous fonts with the bird? I've always been impressed with what you can do.

WOW!!! Ann, I think your list is awesome. Your entire BLOG is my idol blog. You will achieve all your wishes, I am sure of that. I want to do so many things here, but I just don't have the spare time to indulge right now, but I hope to in the near future. I have a hard time just posting. I have to feel it and sometimes I just don't. I hope to get better and you are my inspirations. Good luck.

thats a hefty list you have,, I wish for you all your wishes to come true.
I can't see too much changing with mine, its not fancy or anything but its homey, so I guess I'll be keeping it that way.Maybe I will tire of it in the future, I jsut started 9 months ago.If I change it I don't know what I might do, yet.Best of luck with word press, thats a big move!

Anne,

You've done a tremendous job with your blog. You need to give yourself a huge pat on the back. You've developed a great community, and following. Your blog doesn't really need to grow up. It's already grown. :)

You have a great list of goals and I have no doubt that you will be able to attain each & every one!

Kelly said...

Well you're halfway there just by composing a list of goals! I'm sure you'll have it mastered in no time.

Ann, you are so precious! I love cruising your blog... you do a wonderful job!
I would have to say that all these things are my desire for my blog also. I hope to "come up in the world of Bloggy" and appreciate others such as yourself who are paving the way in excellence!
I hope your day is as lovely as you are! Blessings...

See? Not to scary, right? It's nice to have goals and spell them out ...

... if for nothing more than being better organized ...

... and I love the clean look and cleans lines of your blog design. So when you move to WP, don't fuss it up too much. It feels comfortable as is now.

And thanks for joining our blog hop (and, yes, I do prefer to host a linky with a group of bloggers versus the frightening thought I having to carry it on my own!)

:)

I like you - flaws and all! We all have them - why not share them and laugh about them!

I was lucky enough to find some amazing bloggers to blog hop with - this is our second party! Find some like minded gals and have yourselves one hell of a party - I'll come!

Ann, You have a job outside the home; you have a cottage industry; and you maintain this blog. I think you're doing just fine. I don't think you'd ever want to blog full-time, would you? The pay couldn't be THAT good! LOL
The party memes have gotten way out of hand, IMHO. People just don't visit like they used to when I first started blogging. They link and run and don't leave comments on other people's posts. They see the link-up as a means to garner more followers and stats. Isn't there more to life than trying to be popular? I plan on cutting back on my link-ups- there are only a few parties that send visitors my way! Hang in there on the wordpress transition. :-) Sue

Hi Ann,

I say that I've been DIY'ing before there was HGTV to tell people how ... I think we can get along beautifully :)

And one of your goals, to improve your graphic skills ... this post was beautifully laid out and lovely graphics, if you produced this, how much better can you become? and if you hire this out, you know a great concept and that's every bit as important as being able to do it yourself.

My blog is also about home-keeping at the core of it and I found you through the blog hop (I'm participating too) and I'm your newest follower.

My goal is: to have a blog as sweet as yours. Your fonts and the little yellow bird is lovely!!! Seriously lovely. One of the neatest things I've seen out in blog universe.

Hi Ann,
I was gone over the weekend, so I didn't get a chance to join in on this fun party, but your blog sounds like it is staying true to what you want it to be. Only the future will tell the rest of the story.
Love and hugs, Cindy
