Today I want to share a rag-tag set of dishes I was given when we closed my father-in-law’s condo. I say rag-tag because it’s old, chipped and not all there…but I just adore it.
The pattern name is Baltic and the manufacturer is Adams. There is the loveliest border around all the pieces which, in my opinion, is what makes it so special.
This set of dishes was well-used. Every day for I don’t know how many years.
As you can see it goes, perfectly I might add, with my beloved set of Liberty Blue. This is one of the reasons I don’t mind at all that some pieces are missing. I can mix and match to make 18 place settings.
The one piece that made my heart flutter (don’t laugh…) is this tureen. I showed it in my Cotton Boll post but here it is again.
It’s the perfect size too. Big enough to serve a side dish but not so big that it’s too much trouble to use.
I love new and modern things…but this set of dishes has the sort of sentimental value that can’t be bought. It’s a piece of my husband’s past. Something to hand down to our children. An heirloom to treasure.
On an Etsy note…I had to close my shop for a few days but I’m back up and running again. I was caring for my parents and got behind on orders so I shut down for a few days to catch up. I’ll be back in a day or two with the last pieces of my Fall line. After that, I’ll be introducing my Christmas designs. Stay tuned!
The next few months are going to be very fun and busy. I will be posting all sorts of recipes, decorating ideas and new items in my Etsy shop. Make sure you don’t miss a thing. Click on the little pillow below to subscribe to my posts by email.
