My blog is now two years old.
Hard to believe.
When I first started visiting blogs I was always so impressed with the ones that had a FAQ page. I thought how cool would that be to actually have FAQs? Well…believe it or not I have a few. So I thought I would share the questions and of course, the answers.
1. Where do you get your pillow inserts?
IKEA. At least that’s where I get the 20 x 20 and 16 x 24 sizes. They are down and cost $6.99. I know not everyone has an IKEA around the corner. Mine is 2 hours away. I get there a few times a year and always buy several inserts. I have at least 20…and no, I’m not obsessed! The little 12 x 16 inserts I get from Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel when they have free shipping.
2. What color is the paint on your front door?
Naval from Sherwin Williams. It is, in my opinion, the perfect navy blue. My front door was previously red. We used a coat of gray primer followed by 2 coats of Naval. If you want classic navy, this is the color for you.
3. Where did you get the gold flowered chairs in your living room?
Tar-jay. Yes…it’s true. I ordered them online and they arrived in big boxes. I screwed on the legs and wa-la. Instant charm. Lots of pattern. Pop of color. They retail right now for $299.00. I got mine on sale and had free shipping. I paid much less than $299.00. There are almost 100 different slipper chairs on their website. Definitely worth a visit.
4. Do you like your IKEA couch?
Yes, yes, yes! For the money, you cannot possibly go wrong. If I were an IKEA designer (don’t laugh) I would make the arms of the Ektorp not so fat. I think they need to be narrower but that is the only thing I don’t really care for. It’s comfortable and has held up well. Granted, we have no children living at home…but it’s well-used and you would never know it.
5. Is the ivy in your porch planters real?
Yes! I put 2 little plants in the front corners in the spring and it has covered the grapevine trees. I water it when I remember which isn’t very often. It’s hardy perennial ivy and seems to withstand just about anything. I hope it hangs in there until Christmas!
Now…for the most asked question since I started blogging…
6. Where did you get the planters on your front porch?
I originally saw them in Frontgate catalog. By the time I was able to buy them they were no longer available but I found them at Gardener’s Supply Company. I know they are a bit pricey. I asked my husband to buy them as my birthday gift one year. He never knows what to get me so he happily agreed. In fact, I think my daughter may have actually ordered them. Anyway, I love them still after several years. They have not faded one bit and look as good as the day I put them on my porch.
There you go! I hope I perhaps answered a question you never got around to asking…or didn’t feel comfortable asking. I love questions from readers so please don’t ever hesitate to ask one. I sometimes get behind reading comments but eventually I get to all of them. Or feel free to email me anytime at [email protected]

Here is my FAQ: When will you post new pictures of that cute little dog?
Enjoyed the FAQs
Thanks for the FAQs Ann. I love the topiaries and thought the ivy was artificial. ;) I hope you are safe in the storm.
How fun! I always enjoy reading FAQs.
Ann, congrats on being here for two years. You started blogging just a few months after I started. I remember when I first found you, saying many times that with your talents you were sure to be successful. I guess I am a good judge of personalities and talent! Thanks for being such a good bloggging friend!! My question is…. How do you do everything so well?————– Shannon
I liked this post! It was fun learning more about things around your home. Your front porch planters are beautiful!
Good idea to answer often asked questions. I’d already emailed and asked where you got the chairs, so pretty!

Enjoyed this post Ann. Lots of great info!
Ann all fun things to know! Love your navy door and you are right navy is a hard color to get right and you definitely nailed it!
Kathysue
Ann, this post was such a good idea! Your ivy looks so good that I thought it wasn’t real, either!
I look for the 20X20 down inserts each time I visit Ikea and never find them. I also never see an employee in the area to ask. :)
Ann,
Which IKEA do you shop? Is there one in Ohio? I went to Pottery Barn for my 20×20 and 12×16 inserts for your beautiful pillow covers. I guess I need to shop IKEA online. Enjoyed your FAQ’s. My third and final question: Have you watched “The Midwife” on PBS, Monday at 8pm? Fabulous series in my opinion.
There is an Ikea in Westchester Ohio, just north of Cincinnati. fyi
:D Thanks f or answering your FAQ in one post. So cool! I appreciate your answers.
xo,
RJ
IKEA is where I get my inserts too! I need to get some more real soon for this event I’ve got coming up. And yes I know I need to blog about this event instead of mentioning it now and then! I’ve had a couple events pulled out from under me in the past and I’m a little gun shy of sharing till it’s actually happened!
Ann, This is such a great idea! It is fun to have you answer questions we all are asking. Thanks for the tip about IKEA inserts!!! Very helpful.
Come over and look at my sidebar! I put our linky party button up!
Thanks for the info on the Ikea pillow inserts. I have been paying $10.99 at a local fabric store. I guess if I add in the cost of driving 1 hour to Ikea, it is probably worth it to buy them locally, but then I wouldn’t get my Ikea fix.
I have the Ektorp sofa bed in my work room. I changed slipcovers once, but it has been a great sofa. I never thought about the size of the arms.
