Make these Easy Oven Baked Fuji Apple Chips
for the whole family. A healthy, fat-free
and crunchy snack that everyone will love.
Before I get started with my recipe for oven baked fuji apple chips, I have a confession. I have been trying to get these to come out right for weeks. This is actually my 5th batch and finally…they are perfect! They aren’t hard at all…but I couldn’t get the thickness of the slices right because I didn’t have an adjustable mandolin slicer. Then I had to bake them in batches because I had just two little square cooling racks. I also tried to make them without coring the apples first and that was a disaster.

Coring the apples takes a bit of strength and I found it helped to use both hands to push the corer through the apple. I like the handle on this particular corer because it gives great leverage and it’s easy on your hands.
Here is my mandolin slicer set-up. If you have never used a mandolin slicer, don’t be intimidated. They are a cinch to use. I highly recommend getting one with adjustable blades. Make sure to use the holder because the blades are super sharp. When slicing, apply a little pressure and that helps the apple slide smoothly through the blades.
I have my grandmother’s small, square cooling racks and most of the time they are all I need. Occasionally I wish I had bigger ones so I ordered this set of cooling racks and love them. I am able to make a big batch of apple chips all at the same time.
Here is a printable recipe with all the steps.
One of my greatest weaknesses, if not THE greatest, is potato chips. Simply put, I love them. If they are in the house, they are impossible for me to resist. So I’m constantly trying to come up with crunchy, healthier substitutions. That’s why I was so determined to figure out these oven baked fuji apple chips. I can happily sit with a bowl of these chips, crunching away, and not feel one bit guilty.
