Before we get to this week’s inspiration, I’d like to share something very special with you. My friend Kelly, from My Soulful Home, has written a book. It’s not just any book either…it’s a stunningly beautiful book about flower arranging. It goes month by month and the images are so pretty. Kelly is the real deal. She’s so talented and has a timeless sense of style. Her heart and soul are reflected in this book. I just ordered my own copy and cannot wait until it arrives!

A Year in Flowers would make a lovely gift for someone else or for yourself. So with that in mind, I am giving away a copy of Kelly’s book. Just leave a comment to enter.

Correction: I live OFF a street named Sutton Place, named for our small subdivision within a large community. Sutton Place was what was caught my eye, drawing me to your blog.

  2. Laurie Buginsky says:

Hello, Ann. I am catching up on your “Home Style Saturdays”. Before I read anything further today, I must comment on the “Sentimental Tablecloth to Pillow Cover” you posted from So Much Better With Age.
Many decades ago my husband’s mom made a lovely needlepoint tablecloth for us. “Mom” passed away just a few short years after and, since I felt very close to her, I have treasured her gift. Although we no longer use it (no family members left to share large dinners) I can’t part with this beautiful heirloom.
I am so grateful to have come across this post and I can’t thank you enough for sharing it. I now have a wonderful idea of how I can preserve a forever keepsake as a reminder of the beloved woman we so miss.
As a side note, I live on a street named Sutton Place. This is what drew me to your site. I lost my dad in February of 2015, a precious daughter in July last year, and my own mom just three months later. I am grateful for the calm and beauty you bring to my life. Thank you.

    1. I’m so glad my post on the Sentimental Tablecloth to Pillow Cover inspired you! I thought it was the perfect way to keep my grandma’s tablecloth and get to enjoy it daily. Thank you for your sweet message!
Hugs, Jamie from So Much Better With Age

    Hi Ann,
Thanks so much for your tips on preserving cut flower arrangements. I cut my hydrangeas the way you described and dipped them in alum and I couldn’t believe how long they lasted. I work so hard in my garden and get so disappointed because they usually wilt within a few days. Not when I followed your tips. Your creativity is an inspiration to me and reading your blog is like reading Victoria Magazine, my favorite.

I’ve made chicken salad before but your recipe was delicious but we’d never had the add on’s around the plate like you did and that’s one of the things everyone liked about it so much. It was more than just the chicken salad; it was a feast. As far as the book goes what a winner and what a way to celebrate Kelly’s efforts by giving away one of her books to one of your readers. It would make an awesome coffee table book for sure.
