Family vacations are times to be treasured…and remembered. This past week I was away with my family at the beach. St. Pete Beach, Florida to be exact. It was, quite possibly, the fastest week of my life. We had perfect weather, a nice place to stay and time together. On one of the days my daughter and I left our pool for the beach. We rented a cabana and planted ourselves for several hours. As I was collecting little shells along the shore, my daughter suggested that I bring them home (along with some sand) and put them in a vintage ball jar as a memento of our trip.
When I got home I poured the sand into a jar and added the shells. I’m not very good at lettering so I made a tag using stick-on letters I got at Joann. I think it’s the perfect way to bring a little sand and surf back to Ohio.
Another fun idea for remembering a trip is to make watercolors of some favorite photos. The iPhone app Waterlogue is the easiest way to do it. I took pictures of my daughter in the pool, ran them through Waterlogue and this is how they turned out. I emailed them to myself and uploaded them to my laptop. All I need to do is print and frame them for instant wall art…the memories are just an added bonus.
As someone who rarely leaves home, I was nervous about the flight to Tampa. We took Kelly which was a first. She behaved like a champ even though she had to travel in a carrier under a seat on the plane. I would definitely take her again…it’s a little extra effort but so worth it to have her with us.
I was astonished at the number of entries for my wreath giveaway. I wish I could send one to each and every one of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
