When the girls from Uncommon Designs asked me to join their Easter Tablescape series, honestly I was a little surprised. I’m not exactly the trusted expert on setting the table (as we called it back in the day.) Don’t get me wrong…I have set plenty of tables in my life. As the only daughter in a family of 6, that was my daily job.
This is just a bit different and loads more fun! My starting point was a set of white linen napkins that were given to me when we closed my Father-In-Law’s house.
I am totally in love with them. There is a matching tablecloth that I opted not to use but it’s equally as beautiful. These are hand embroidered with scalloped edges that make my heart flutter.
Next came blue Ball jars. I had to settle for a bunch of flowers from the grocery store which I wasn’t thrilled with but they ended up being OK. Anything looks better in a blue Ball jar.
I wanted to use these torchons I ordered from an Etsy shop called Sunday Brocantes. The torchons, or tea towels, were too big to be place mats so I sewed two together to make a small table runner. Running them width-wise worked great since my table is set for four.
The plate layers just happened. I had the wicker napkin rings and found the matching chargers at Pier 1. White plates from Walmart are topped with blue dessert plates from Target. It’s all topped off with petite Easter baskets filled with eggs. I added the same etched glasses I used at Thanksgiving. Nothing is expensive but it all looks fresh and somehow works.
I threw in a little bling with my silver candlesticks and hurricanes.
A round loaf of bread on a vintage bread board lends a little authenticity and I just thought it looked nice.
I’m going to leave my table set for a while with the hope that we will be able to have a family Easter dinner. No one is sure what’s going on yet so time will tell. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
