For those of you who always stick around to the end, I’d like to say thank you. Again.

I am filled with many different feelings when I think about all of you who have been so kind and supportive. First I get a little emotional because I am always amazed at how nice everyone is…then I get nervous that I can keep up and not disappoint you. After that I usually, somehow, get inspired to bring you something new…something that might make you smile or make your life easier. That’s always my goal…every day. I feel like this year has been one of transition and growing. I’m a different person now than I was when this year started. My mom’s death has rearranged my priorities and changed the way I think. I want to live a simple life and share how to do that with you. Sometimes I may not get it exactly right, but I want you to know that I’ll always keep trying.

I’ve said this many times, but I don’t take your friendship for granted. Have a lovely day.

  1. Love all the recipes, thank you.

  2. Ann, I always look forward to opening your emails, you have so much to offer, whether it’s a recipe, styling tip or thoughts from the heart.
I just received one of your pillow covers in the black and white checked print with the smiling jack-o-lantern, and I love it! Please keep making other covers with the black and white background!
Thank you for all you do for all of us!

Always always look forward to opening my email and seeing Sutton place. I mean that and want you to know that you are so appreciated. I’ve been down with a bad cut on my hand so my emails mean alot to me. I opened a can of pumpkin and tried using a tree knife to finish opening. Didn’t work. I landed in the
E.R. and 20 stitches later. They do not make good can openers anymore. I thought I would invent one I guess. Anyway thank you for always lifting spirits and sharing.

I’ve been reading your blog for years, and I’ve never come away disappointed. I’m sure the others will say the same.

As we get to the big holiday season at the end of the year, I know you’ll be missing your mom even more. I lost my mom in 2015, and my husband lost his mom and dad this year. So the holidays will be especially painful for us, but we know they are in Heaven and looking down on us. I’m sure your mom is having a ball in Heaven but also that she’s keeping an eye on you as well.

    1. Ann Drake says:

Thank you for you kind words…I love the idea of my mom having a ball in heaven. I sure hope so!

  8. Ann, you are such a sweet lady. Thank you for the iced pumpkin cookies recipe. I am going to send you my chocolate pumpkin cake roll recipe. Thank you Ann for all the great recipes you give us and the decorating inspiration. I really like your recipes cause you very seldom have to have anything special to cook them up.

  17. I am so excited to try your pumpkin icebox cake! I have tried all your other icebox recipes and your chocolate one is fantastic! My family asks for it all the time!! I’m sure this will be added to my list of “regulars” to make.

  18. You always inspire me. I am living a simple life just like you. My life used to be filled to the brim with obligations. I was thrilled when I was able to retire at an early age and really enjoy a life not defined by my appointment book. Now at 70 I am enjoying Pilates, baking bread, sewing, quilting, knitting and not rush from one appointment to another. Life is so good!

  19. Toni Tartaglino says:

I know it is because of my father and his great love for me along with his family that his treasures have been installed in my heart. I have been truly blessed to have been so loved.
Life is what we make of it and who we share it with. Here’s to a year of simple meaningful changes.

    1. Ann Drake says:

Hi Toni…thank you for sharing about your dad. I do feel like my Mom’s parting gift to me was the freedom to just be me and to be happy. Can’t ask for much more than that…and I agree. A year of meaningful changes.

I love how you included the mini pumpkins, pine cones & bittersweet – so pretty. Could you tell me where you purchased your plates from? You never disappoint! Have a great day!

    1. Ann Drake says:

Hi Claire…I can’t remember if I answered your question or not so to make sure I’m writing again. The plates came from Walmart a few years ago. From their Better Homes and Garden collection. Perhaps they will have something similar this year? I hope so…Ann

      1. Thanks so much for the reply Ann – I appreciate it!

  34. I have to say, your blog has become one of my favorites. Your style of decorating is fresh but not trendy; timeless but not stuffy. Your recipes (at least the ones I’ve tried) are always tasty, and your free printables are so very generous. However you are doing it, I for one appreciate what you do. Thank YOU for being so giving. My Mom passed away almost three years ago and I miss her every day and I understand that it is life changing.

  35. Beth Beard says:

You never disappoint Ann! Love the recipes and I enjoy reading every post. Have a wonderful day my friend.

  36. Kathleen G says:

The smell of pumpkin spices in the air is what I need here with the temps in the low 90s, but! 60s overnight and the air is dry, that’s Fall in Phoenix:). I will always read your blog, have been for years and you have a lot of faithful readers. Yes, a loss of a parent is life changing. I wish my mom lived closer, thank goodness my sister lives with her. Autumn reminds me of my mom, we love this time of the year. I know my mom would love your blog Ann.
Have a beautiful Fall day with Autumnal leaves swirling around, Kathleen in Az

  37. Susan Hensler says:

    Ann, you never disappoint!

I always feel like I’m chatting with an old friend and sharing recipes or hints on seasonal decorating when I’m on your site.
Thank you for all you do and for sharing your time and talents with us. Have a wonderful day!

  38. As a pumpkin lover I, of course, will enjoy making the pumpkin frosted cookies. They remind me of the cookies my Nana baked and I try to emulate her in my kitchen – which is not easy in a world of broccoli, humus, and coconut oil!
Also I just want to tell you again that I too value staying in touch with you. You are my friend at the breakfast table and I welcome beginning the day in your calm, careful company. Thank you for being there.

  39. Sheila Gunderson says:

Just printed off your “Iced Pumpkin Cookies” recipe. Can’t wait to do some baking with my 10 year old granddaughter Anna. They look moist and delicious!

  40. Shirley Graham says:

Love the pumpkin pillow pictured and the recipes sound yummy! Are you selling the pillow? Like your prints too but cannot print them off as we do not have color. Have a great fall & enjoy the leaves. Ours haven’t turned too much yet here in Ohio but they’re starting!

  41. The recipes all look delicious! Thanks for sharing and inspiring us all. Your talent for photography along with your creative decorating talents are much appreciated and admired!

  42. Shannon Griffiths says:

    Good morning Ann,
For the past few years I have been getting your emails in my inbox that greet me every morning when I log on. I just have to let you know how enjoyable these emails are from you. I am filling with a sense of warmth when I see delicious recipes and creative seasonal decorating ideas….and so much more!
In a world that is in such a hurry to go ‘somewhere’, it’s so refreshing to get your emails….somehow life moves a little slower, even just for a few moments.
Enjoy your day and thank you again for sharing a little happiness with others. :-)

  43. Arti Mader says:

I’m one of those “who always sticks around to the end, ” and I am especially glad that I did today. Those last words are so much a reflection of what many of us feel– the belief that we can aspire, if not to greatness, then goodness and honesty and kindness. The sincerity in your words is touching. Thank you for the time and effor you spend in writing this blog.
