Fall Home Decor Ideas | The Colors of the Season

Ok…I know it’s a bit early, but I’m ready to share some of my new fall home decor ideas…so by the time you want to welcome fall into your own home, you will have easy inspiration right at your fingertips. This year I want to focus on embracing the colors of the season. A mixture of gold, copper, brown and orange will be sprinkled around my home, both inside and outside. By tempering them with neutrals and adding natural elements, I think it will be cozy and festive.

Fall Home Decor Ideas

For any seasonal decorating, I start with my front porch. I have already made a wreath that I shared over on my eBay blog. I am going to make one more and will be sharing it soon. I’m using the pumpkins on a stick pictured above and hopefully fresh bittersweet. I found amazing fresh bittersweet last fall on eBay, but it’s not listed yet for this year. I’m sure it’s too early so when I find a good source, I’ll let you know.

I found plaid fleece throws for the sitting area of the porch. They come in a pack of two, are very budget-friendly and are perfect to put outside. I designed a few new pillow covers for my Society6 shop and will be using those too. I’m sure some mums will appear as well.

It’s going to be very simple and I’m using fall decor I already have. If you’re wondering about the big gourd in the picture above, I stained it myself. Fall Entry Decor | Ideas and Inspiration from On Sutton Place

Fall Entry Decor

One of my favorite fall home decor ideas is to add interest and texture with ribbon. I tie it on my lanterns, on the pumpkin stems, and on pitcher handles. I have a cotton boll project I want to try but I’m not sure it’s going to work out. Sometimes I can see projects in my mind but have a hard time making them happen. Hopefully I can pull this one off!

I’ve enjoyed the summer but I’m ready for fall. I want to open my windows and let the cool air come inside. The seasonal decor will give everything a fresh, new look. I am so ready for something new to watch on TV. College football starts soon along with Season 2 of Poldark. ( I can hardly wait!) I’m ready to make a pot of soup and some zucchini bread. All in all, it’s definitely time to move on.

  10. Hi Ann,
Like you, I am so ready for fall! I live in Texas, & although the temperature has begun to moderate thanks to some much needed rain over the last few weeks, I am so tired of the heat. I started thinking about how I will decorate our home for fall a few weeks ago! Your posts are great & I draw lots of inspiration from your projects. Thanks for the great ideas.

Great inspiration Ann. I am not ready for fall yet, but I have been thinking of ways to decorate too.

  12. I love the autumnal colors. It sets the tone for the gathering season and makes me want to bake! I live in West Texas and don’t have those lovely colors in the trees. So I surround myself and my home with all the reminders of Fall. I need to go to the nearby cotton field and get some cotton to add to the dry arrangements. Your ideas are outstanding.

  13. These are great ideas, Ann! I am ready for the temps to drop, as well! Looking forward to Fall.

  14. Hi Ann! Love hearing and seeing all your ideas. They’re so inspiring and your style is spot on! I’ve been following you for a long time and was also sofa shopping back in May when you shared your post on your sofa dilemma. I’m curious-did I miss which sofa and rug you chose?? In dying to know!

  15. Ann, I am so ready for fall, my favorite time of year! We have had so many 90+ days of heat and humidity. Seeing your decor ideas makes me realize there are pretty days coming soon. I have been anxiously waiting to see pictures of your new sofa and rug. Have I missed them?

  17. Love this post! Would never have thought of putting a little crocheted mat on a pumpkin. Genius.
I’d does feel as Autumn ( that’s what we call Fall over here) is just round the corner. There’s a nip in the air. Nights are drawing in. Yes a second series of Poldark is coming soon. Also a mini series about Queen Victoria which looks good. And rumours of a Downton film!

  18. I love the fall season and enjoy your ideas for decorations. You never fail to inspire me to decorate. You are very talented… Thanks

  19. Thanks for all the fall ideas, Ann. Even though Florida is still sunny. Hot and humid, I too am ready for fall! Your porch is gorgeous, and your sunflower wreath caught my eye. I definitely am going to make two of them. (my porch as double doors).! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

  20. Hi Ann,
Love your fall post this morning. If you don’t mind, could you post where you purchased the wooden buckets on your staircase. Your blog is great from the recipes, prints, decorations & honesty about life in general. Thanks, Enjoy the fall. J
