Up today is project #2 featuring red and black buffalo plaid. Oh my gosh am I having fun with this! I promise not to get carried away though. These JOY free Christmas printables are the perfect way to add this print to your decor for basically no money…and even if you have to buy the frames it would still be affordable. I had the black frames and red mats but both are available at any craft store. I printed the letters on white, textured card stock and in ten minutes had new wall art. I also included a bonus printable of a flying, buffalo plaid reindeer. Like my ball ornaments, he turned out pretty cute.
Now…if you don’t want to hang these on your wall, I’ve found some other really fun options. This picture has been pinned a jillion times. It’s no surprise because it’s a doable and easy thing. This idea would be super simple especially if you already had a shelf in place. You could also do something like this which is very cozy and sort of has a farmhouse feel.

Here is the start of my Christmas decor. (You got a little peek in the first pic.) I have had these lanterns for so long that I can’t imagine decorating without them. I simply filled them with red ball ornaments and pine cones. I used faux pine with a buffalo plaid bow to add a little personality. You can find out more about decorating with lanterns over on my eBay blog. Just click the image to take a look!

Just saw some cute small square plates at Target in that pattern $3 for 4!

Hi Ann,
I love your website, emails & decorating!
Thank you for sharing!
Kim
Ann, I just have to say THANK YOU for your emails and all the wonderful ideas for decorating and cooking and all you share with us. I LOVE the Joy printables for Christmas and will change out last year’s printables (which I got so many compliments on) for the Buffalo plaid “Joy” printables. I actually changed my “ribbon” theme this year to this plaid so these printables will fit right in. You’re awesome!
You always create and share the most beautiful printables and I can’t thank you enough. I love your style and your printables always fit in well with my decor. The buffalo plaid in these prints is fabulous and I am enjoying how you are incorporating this theme in such pretty yet subtle and not overdone ways. Looking forward to seeing what idea you come up with next.
Lovely post, Ann Thanks for sharing. What size black frames do you use for the individual “Joy” letters you framed. I have a place to put the 3 frames but I can’t decide what size. I really like yours. Thanks for the delightful post.
Hi Lu Ann!
The frames are 11 x 14. The mats have an 8 x 10 opening. I got everything a few years ago at Hobby Lobby but any craft store has this sort of thing. Enjoy!
Hi Ann, I’m fairly new to this sight and love love love all the wonderful creative ideas. I’m really interested in the buffalo plaid J O Y letters, but the space I have to put them will not accommodate such large frames. Is there a way to make the letters smaller to fit a 5×7 frame.
