Patriotic Porch Decor Ideas for Summer
Use these easy patriotic porch decor ideas to spruce up your outdoor space for the summer holidays: Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day!
Welcome to our front porch…all decked out for the 4th of July! Seems the older I get, and wiser, the more I appreciate where I live, and I am grateful to those men and women who made this country what it is. That said, being patriotic isn’t just for the summer holidays, but celebrating these holidays is a tried and true American tradition.
What You Can Do For Free
I didn’t think I would be showing our porch again until fall, but to celebrate the holiday, I challenged myself to add touches of Americana to our front porch. I can rarely say this, but this update was absolutely free. I dove into my pillow cover and doormat collections, and dug out our stick flags. In about 15 minutes, our porch was transformed.
The Door Basket
The door basket is the one I made in the spring. I simply removed the lemons, and added two American stick flags. In less than five minutes, the door basket was transformed into a patriotic display that shows up great from the street. You could go one step further by adding some red, faux flowers. Red gerbera daisies or geraniums would be perfect! TIP: the door basket is hung with a Command hook.
Layered Doormats
I’m not sure it’s something I should admit publicly, but I love my doormat collection! I have a special shelf designated in our garage that stores them beautifully. I found a red and white rug from a previous Christmas porch, and added a simple Welcome mat.
The Planters
The planters that I put together in the spring are growing, but I wish they had more blooms. Regardless, it took about 10 seconds to place large American stick flags in the middle of each planter. Instant Americana decor.
The Sitting Area
The porch rockers have been around for a while and I love them as much as the day I got them. I found two grain sack inspired pillow covers in a color I rarely use…and that’s red. I love the way they pop off of the rockers. For the garden stool, I added a bucket of lavender that I haven’t had time to get in the ground, and a small Willow Tree figurine of a woman holding a folded American flag. It’s called “Hero.”
And with these four easy steps, our porch is ready to to wish anyone who drives by a happy 4th of July! I hope this inspires you to add a bit of Yankee Doodle Dandy to your porch. If you choose to go back to your regular porch decor after the holiday, it’s an easy and super quick transition back to basics. This patriotic porch decor is also a look that can last throughout the entire summer. It’s never out of fashion to display your American pride, and put your best patriotic foot forward.
