1. ON THE BLOG: Decorate for fall the easy, smart way…

2.  AMAZON FINDS: See all my favorite new picks.

3. DECORATING HELP: Get our mini decorating course, 5-DAYS TO BE A BETTER HOME DECORATOR. It will help you conquer your biggest decorating dilemmas for good. Yes, you can be a better decorator! I’ll help.

4. FAVORITE FINDS:

Home decor you will love!

5. BEAUTIFUL HOMES AND MORE: Tour this beautiful Antique Farmhouse featuring a soft, worn look that is captivating. You will enjoy these stunning Traditional Style Homes. And visit another charming Farmhouse filled with inspiration.

6. LAST DITCH EFFORT: Our light-colored dining room rug, which I adore, had become heavily stained over time. With six little grandkids who love to eat and spill, it’s no surprise! At one point, it even had oil from a jar of olives on it. It was in pretty bad shape. We tried everything to clean it, but some stains just wouldn’t budge. Thankfully, since it’s an indoor/outdoor rug, we decided to take it outside for a thorough cleaning with Oxiclean and a hose as a last resort. The results were amazing—it looks as good as new! The two takeaways from this experience? First, consider an indoor/outdoor rug for your dining room. Second, don’t save Oxiclean for a last-ditch effort!

7. FUN AND INTERESTING FACTS: Many people suffer from allodoxaphobia. What is it? What is hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia?

8. FALL CAPSULE WARDROBE:

9. EASY RECIPES: I’ve been making baked oatmeal for decades. It’s easy, hearty, and delicious! Preheat your oven to 350° and grease an 8×8 baking dish. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of old-fashioned rolled oats (not instant), 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp baking powder, and 1/4 tsp salt. Mix to combine. In a small bowl, whisk 1 1/2 cups milk, 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce, 2 TBS melted unsalted butter, 1 large egg, and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Pour the milk mixture and 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (or pecans) into the oats and stir to combine. Pour into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30- 35 minutes until done and golden. I like to eat baked oatmeal in a bowl with milk poured over it. YUM!

10. MORE INSPIRATION FROM THE BLOG: These posts are perfect for this time of the year…

ANSWER TO # 7: Allodoxaphobia is the fear of other people’s opinions. Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia is the fear of long words. Now you know.

2. AMAZON PICKS: here are this week’s favorites from Amazon. I also mentioned the all new FALL DECOR SHOP last week, but forgot to give the link, so here it is.

3. THIS WEEK ON THE BLOG I shared How to Transition Your Patio into Fall, these Warm Autumn Decor Ideas for the Kitchen, this look at How I Modernized My French Style Living Room and this Soft and Neutral Fall Table Setting.

7. WHAT I’M READING: Summer Island by Kristin Hannah couldn’t be more different than The Nightingale, but it was nonetheless a good read. A much ‘smaller book’, it deals with a mother-daughter relationship in desperate need of repair. I enjoyed this book.

8. FASHION PICKS: Let’s look at transitional dressing. Light pieces in richer colors work for still warm days with a new season approaching.

9. WHAT’S INSPIRING ME AROUND THE WEB: I just discovered this awesome Instagram account which really speaks to my love of European-inspired rustic elegance. I spent lots of time looking at his amazing website, as well!

10. UP NEXT: Seasonal fall decor in the master bath.

1.) I usually send out the annual free printable calendar sometime in September, but this year I decided to get it going a bit early. I needed something to occupy my mind, but I also needed something that I enjoy doing. Making this calendar for all of you definitely helped with both things! TAKE A LOOK HERE!

2.) My favorite, can’t-live-without makeup and hair products:

3.) FAVORITE QUOTE: “So, what if, instead of thinking about solving your whole life, you just think about adding additional good things. One at a time. Just let your pile of good things grow.” ~Rainbow Rowell

4.) Not too long ago, I got an email from a reader who wondered where I got my French style, grain sack inspired kitchen towels. So here are a few of my favorites:

5.) I’m still a Pinterest user, although I don’t love it as much as I once did. Occasionally something will come through my feed that really catches my attention. When I saw this collection of bunk room ideas, I clicked over right away. Even if you have no intention of assembling a bunk room, the pictures are so fun to stroll through!

6.) On the same note…I can pretty much guarantee that I’ll never have a butler’s pantry, but this inspirational roundup has ideas that can be used in any size kitchen.

7.) MORE FALL FAVORITES:

8.) The Autumn Market is open, and features six easy-to-shop sections for all things fall!

9.) GOT APPLES? Make this super easy apple salad, these apple muffins, or this homemade slow cooker applesauce.

10.) Ohio has been blessed with some cooler temps, and let me tell you, it’s made me anxious for fall. I’m ready to jump right in, so stay tuned for new fall decor ideas and inspiration. Have a lovely week!

  1. Yes, I am looking forward to the cooler fall weather which has put me in the
mood for your apple muffins. My brother has a few apple trees in his orchard, not very attractive fruit but makes great apple sauce and apple butter which will work nicely in your recipe.

  2. Ann, I’m with you. Pinterest is nothing like it used to be. I almost never use it now.
