1. FEATURED POSTS: Fall decor can be updated and low key, as seen in Chic Fall Decor Family Room Ideas. Have a white or neutral bedroom that’s lacking in color? Doesn’t mean it can’t be dressed for fall. Find tips for Using Fall Accents to Warm Up a White Bedroom.

2. AMAZON PICKS: here are this week’s favorites from Amazon.

3. THIS WEEK ON THE BLOG I shared Outdoor Fall Entertaining: Serving Hors d’Oeuvres on the Patio, how to Style a Fall Hutch with Soft Neutral Colors, How to use Soft Colors in a Tranquil Fall Tablescape and a guide to Soft and Pretty Paint Colors for Your Home.

7. WHAT I’M READING: I tend to read a lot of books set during WWII, but many take place on the periphery and skirt the many horrors. Curiously, a book I recently read that I loved, Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly, does have its share of brutal scenarios, yet its well worth the read, telling the story of a select group of prisoners I didn’t know much about. Based on real-life events and people.

8. FASHION PICKS: This lovely grouping of early fall dresses have a sweet and pretty, romantic air to them.

9. WHAT’S INSPIRING ME AROUND THE WEB: In love with this stunning kitchen, (even though it’s not all white!) This beautiful stairway is just perfect and note the wonderful shelf styling. This living room is gorgeous and cozy at the same time.

10. UP NEXT: A beautiful fall living room…

2.) I have a brand new collection of my favorite Amazon finds just waiting for you. See it HERE.

3.) FAVORITE QUOTE: “The humblest tasks get beautified if loving hands do them.” ~Louisa May Alcott (New printable featuring this quote coming soon!)

4.) INSPIRING PLACES: see how these homeowners spent 10 years putting a plan in place to transform their 1970s house into the open, light-filled, character-rich home they always wanted, and then take a look at this home that illustrates how size is not a factor in designing your dream décor.

5.) WHAT I’M LOVING RIGHT NOW:

6.) It’s apple season in Ohio, so of course, that means heading to the kitchen to bake! I just made this apple bread recipe that makes four small loaves…so we ate one, I shared one with a friend, and the other two went in the freezer to enjoy later!

7.) WHAT I’M WATCHING: everything is on repeat. I haven’t watched anything new for weeks. But surprisingly, rewatching some of my favorites has been so enjoyable. I just finished The War (a Ken Burns production) on PBS Documentaries. I also watched The Help, Midway, and The Monuments Men, all on Hulu.

8.) Recent posts you may have missed: The Ultimate Guide To Celebrating Fall, Must-Try Fall Recipes For Autumn Lovers, and this Under 20 Minutes Pumpkin Arrangement.

9.) ONE MORE HOME TOUR: this nautical California beach cottage is filled with blue-patterned pottery, rattan chairs, and sand dollars for a vibe that feels crisp and breathable.

10.) That’s a wrap for this week. Enjoy these last few days of August!

7. FUN AND INTERESTING FACTS: Until about 10 years ago, what color was considered taboo after Labor Day? Why do apples float?

8. STARTING TO DECORATE FOR FALL? These posts will be most helpful…

9. EASY AND SAVORY ROASTED POTATOES: My daughter made these for us last weekend, and they were so delicious! In a large bowl, add one-quarter cup fresh squeezed lemon juice, one-quarter cup olive oil, one-quarter cup chicken stock, and a 1.5-pound bag of assorted colored baby potatoes cut in quarters or halves, depending on their size. Let the potatoes marinate in the liquid for 15-30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 400°. After marinating the potatoes, put them in a single layer cut-side down on a rimmed baking sheet and salt them. Pour enough liquid over the potatoes so they are one-third covered. Roast in the oven for 30-40 minutes, turning once until the liquid evaporates and the potatoes get a little crisp.

10. EASY DIY CRAFTS: You will want to check out my friend Crissy’s YouTube Channel. She shares the best easy to do crafts, like Pressed Flower DiysSuper Cute Decorated Wooden Spoons With Decoupage, and Sweet Air Dry Clay Decor.

ANSWER TO #7: Wearing white after Labor Day was taboo, as white was a summer fashion color, and Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer. Apples float because they are 25% air. Now you know!
