7. WHAT I’M READING: I tend to read a lot of books set during WWII, but many take place on the periphery and skirt the many horrors. Curiously, a book I recently read that I loved, Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly, does have its share of brutal scenarios, yet its well worth the read, telling the story of a select group of prisoners I didn’t know much about. Based on real-life events and people.
8. FASHION PICKS: This lovely grouping of early fall dresses have a sweet and pretty, romantic air to them.
- this flowy v-neck balloon-sleeve maxi dress
- this relaxed multi floral midi dress
- this sepia python swingy self-belted crepe midi dress
- this gauzy paisley print ruffle dress
9. WHAT’S INSPIRING ME AROUND THE WEB: In love with this stunning kitchen, (even though it’s not all white!) This beautiful stairway is just perfect and note the wonderful shelf styling. This living room is gorgeous and cozy at the same time.

7.) WHAT I’M WATCHING: everything is on repeat. I haven’t watched anything new for weeks. But surprisingly, rewatching some of my favorites has been so enjoyable. I just finished The War (a Ken Burns production) on PBS Documentaries. I also watched The Help, Midway, and The Monuments Men, all on Hulu.

9. EASY AND SAVORY ROASTED POTATOES: My daughter made these for us last weekend, and they were so delicious! In a large bowl, add one-quarter cup fresh squeezed lemon juice, one-quarter cup olive oil, one-quarter cup chicken stock, and a 1.5-pound bag of assorted colored baby potatoes cut in quarters or halves, depending on their size. Let the potatoes marinate in the liquid for 15-30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 400°. After marinating the potatoes, put them in a single layer cut-side down on a rimmed baking sheet and salt them. Pour enough liquid over the potatoes so they are one-third covered. Roast in the oven for 30-40 minutes, turning once until the liquid evaporates and the potatoes get a little crisp.
10. EASY DIY CRAFTS: You will want to check out my friend Crissy’s YouTube Channel. She shares the best easy to do crafts, like Pressed Flower Diys, Super Cute Decorated Wooden Spoons With Decoupage, and Sweet Air Dry Clay Decor.
ANSWER TO #7: Wearing white after Labor Day was taboo, as white was a summer fashion color, and Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer. Apples float because they are 25% air. Now you know!
