7. WHAT I’M READING: Another WWII era book, The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff was thoroughly engaging, particularly in that historical fiction kind of way. This one is centered on the women of the time period, “a fascinating tale of the hidden women who helped to win the war”.

8. FASHION PICKS: This week we’re looking at trending sweaters.

9. WHAT’S INSPIRING ME AROUND THE WEB: Take a tour of an updated seaside cottage that’s full of Swedish and French antiques. Then for a rustic modern twist, this Maryland home looks like a woodsy treehouse – plenty cozy but oh-so-updated.

10. UP NEXT: Mixing patterns to add fall color to your home…

10. RECIPE OF THE WEEK: Zesty Ranch Oyster Crackers: Preheat oven to 250°. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 pack of Ranch Seasoning Mix, 1 1/2 tsp dill-weed, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, and 1/2 tsp onion powder. Pour 1/3 cup of Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn oil into the seasonings and wisk. Put 14-oz oyster crackers in a large bowl, drizzle the oil over the crackers, and stir to combine. Spread the oyster crackers over the baking dish and bake for 20 minutes, stirring once. Cool completely, and enjoy.

ANSWER TO #7: On September 19, 1893, New Zealand was the first country to give women the right to vote. If you plant an apple seed from an apple you are eating, it will produce a new variety of apples. This genetic characteristic is called heterozygosity and is responsible for thousands of varieties of apples. Now you know!
