8. WHAT I’M READING: The Velvet Hours by Alyson Richman. Inspired by the true account of an abandoned Parisian apartment, as Paris teeters on the edge of the German occupation, a young French woman closes the door to her late grandmother’s treasure-filled apartment, unsure if she’ll ever return.
9. Take advantage of January’s “white sales” while upgrading your winter retreat at home. Create a Dreamy Bedroom Oasis with Luxe White Bedding.
10. UP NEXT: Mood Boosters to Banish the Winter Blues.
1.) I recently tackled a project in one of the smallest spaces in our home, and the result has completely changed how I feel about it. With a few bold choices—like a surprising wallpaper pattern and some creative updates—it’s now one of my favorite spots. Want to see how it all came together? Click HERE!
2.) If you get overwhelmed when you try to shop on Amazon, and need help narrowing down the choices, take a look at the easy-to-shop sections in my Amazon Shop.
3.) FAVORITE QUOTE: “It’s funny how we outgrow what we once thought we couldn’t live without, and then we fall in love with what we didn’t even know we wanted. Life keeps leading us on journeys we would never go on if it were up to us. Don’t be afraid. Have faith. Find the lessons. Trust the journey.” ~Marc and Angel
4.) LOVELY HOMES: Although mostly neutral, this coastal cottage home is anything but boring, and if you love a mix of colors and patterns, this Hampshire cottage will make your heart sing.
5.) If you like keeping track of decorating trends, I thought this article was a very good read. I especially liked their take on overly styled beds!
6.) Most of us don’t live in a sophisticated Georgian home, but if you look around this house, there are countless ideas that would be easy to replicate. For example, the way they placed chairs in a walkway, and then topped them with colorful pillows. Or the way they flanked the fireplace with sofas…but the sofas don’t match. Or the way they used open shelving in the kitchen. These simple yet creative touches show that thoughtful design can make any space feel both inviting and unique.
7.) THINGS I’M LOVING RIGHT NOW:
- this gorgeous set of 3 wood trays
- this blue linen table runner
- this affordable framed canvas art
- this colorful floral pillow cover
- this stunning vintage-inspired gathering basket
- this cute heart cast iron skillet
8.) One of my January chores, and one I actually enjoy, is cleaning out my bathroom drawers. Specifically, all the stale cough drops, expired medicine, and makeup. This gives me the opportunity to take inventory, and replace what’s gone or just too old. I finally pitched a few lipsticks that I had been holding on to, along with an at least 5-year-old blush. Here’s what I chose for replacements:
- MAC Cosmetics Powder Blush in Melba
- ILIA Lip and Cheek Tint in At Last
- Yves Saint Laurent Loveshine Lip Oil Stick (Color 205)
9.) If you’re in a cooking rut after the holidays, I know exactly how you feel. It’s so frustrating! Here are a couple of ideas that will help get you through:
- Small Batch Chicken Cobbler
- Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad paired with this Semi-Homemade Tomato Soup
- Baked Spaghetti
10.) Wishing everyone a wonderful week! XO

10. CULINARY CORNER: Italian Meatloaf is one of our family favorites! Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Spray a 9 x 13 broiler proof pan with cooking spray. Crush 35 saltine crackers and add to a large bowl along with 3/4 cup of milk and two eggs. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then whisk everything together. Add 1 lb ground beef, 1 lb Italian sausage, 1 cup parmesan cheese, 1 tsp finely granulated garlic, 1 tsp dried oregano, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, and 1/4 tsp dried red pepper flakes to the bowl. Mix everything together with your hands and form into a loaf and transfer to the prepared pan. Pour 1 large jar of spaghetti sauce over the meatloaf to cover half of it. Use more spaghetti sauce if needed. Cover the pan with foil and bake until the inside of the meatloaf reaches 160 degrees, about 1-1 1/4 hours. Remove from the oven and sprinkle 1 cup of fontina cheese over the top of the meatloaf and broil for 2 minutes, until the cheese is melted. Rest the meatloaf for 15 minutes and serve.
ANSWER TO #7: Chionophobia is the fear of snow and being trapped by snow. 12 percent of the earth’s surface is covered by snow and ice. Now you know!

Ann, thank you!!! This is just what I needed today, and you are right, the quote is great! The linen runner has my brain working….thinking this would be a lovely way to re-purpose a jeans leg and a wide strip of linen leftover from a project…maybe keep the outer seam of the jeans leg as a design element… Thanks for inspiration!
