1.) With summer on the way, I gave our living room a quick refresh using things I already had, plus a few simple additions. Nothing major changed…just new pillow covers, a few fresh flowers, and a bit of styling on the mantel. But even those small updates made the whole space feel lighter and more seasonal. I hope it inspires you to try a few easy changes in your own home.

2.) Take a look at my Amazon shop if you are looking to refresh your own living room with fun and stylish pillow covers. Just updated with lots of new choices!

3.) FAVORITE QUOTE: “Your diet is not only what you eat. It is what you watch, what you listen to, what you read, and the people you hang around. Pay attention to what you feed your soul, not just your stomach.” ~Found HERE.

  • This old fashioned rhubarb cake recipe is made with simple ingredients. It’s moist, comforting, and perfect for spring or summer baking. It can also be easily adapted to make rhubarb muffins.
  • Make this chicken salad with apples for an easy lunch or a casual dinner. Pile the chicken salad on thick toast for a filling and crunchy sandwich. It’s delicious!

7.) HAVE YOU PLANTED MINT? I love having fresh mint right outside my back door. Lately, I’ve been adding it to my water, to Fresca, and to lemonade. I also enjoy using it as a garnish because it can turn an everyday dessert into something really special. Anyone can grow a mint plant…I promise! It’s a simple pleasure that I truly recommend.

8.) This is the time of year when gardens bloom, and you can fill your house with fresh flower arrangements. This guide will show you how to arrange garden flowers, and mix them with herbs. 9. RHUBARB BUCKLE: The perfect recipe for in-season rhubarb. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt. Set aside. In a separate bowl, cream 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter and 3/4 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Add 1 large egg and mix until fully incorporated. Stir in 1/2 cup buttermilk and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Add the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in 2 cups chopped rhubarb. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. In a small bowl, mix together 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted), 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup all-purpose flour, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon until crumbly. Sprinkle the topping over the batter. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until a tester inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool slightly before serving.

10. THE LAST WORD: For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1

ANSWER TO #7: Memorial Day was once called Decoration Day. It was initially a day to decorate the graves of soldiers, both Union and Confederate, who had given their lives in the Civil War. A paper poppy is worn on Memorial Day. It became the symbol of the fallen after the poem Flanders’ Field was published.
