1.) Since I shared the first look at our master bedroom, I’ve received quite a few questions about our upholstered bed. It’s from Wayfair, and is available at this link. The color we got was called Groupie Latte, which is not currently listed, but it looks very close to Zuma Linen. We love this bed. I hired a handyman to put it together, but it wasn’t hard if you have the right tools. It’s been moved once, and is as sturdy as the first day we got it. We also have this queen Stella tufted bed from Birch Lane in our small guest room. Again, the color we purchased is not listed right now, but it looks identical to Cotton Chambers Chalk. If you are considering an upholstered bed, both of these have worked well for us. One more bed that I absolutely love is the Lafayette Upholstered bed from Crate & Barrel. It’s a decent price too!

2.) FAVORITE QUOTE: “Ships don’t sink because of the water around them. Ships sink because of the water that gets in them. Don’t let what’s happening around you get inside you and weigh you down.” (Author Unknown)

3.) FAMILY FAVORITES: This week I’m featuring my husbands favorite things to eat. He’s one of those guys who basically eats to survive, and will eat pretty much anything I put in front of him! But he does have a few things he likes better than others. First is this beef barley soup. It’s super simple to make, and it’s got so much taste. His favorite desserts are chocolate chip cookies or this chocolate pudding cake. He’s definitely not a fruit dessert guy! One more thing he loves is my baked spaghetti. Up next week: my daughter’s best-loved dishes.

4.) INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT TO FOLLOW: today I’m doing something a bit different. As a rule, I don’t generally spend much time on social media. I am, however, trying to grow my Instagram following, which is like climbing Mt. Everest! It’s very hard, and it takes a long time. So…if you are on Instagram, I would be very grateful if you would follow me {HERE.} Thank you so much!

5.) I just updated the Kitchen section in my Amazon Shop. I included all my favorite tools, linens, appliances, and more. At least for now, everything is in stock too!

6.) ONE POT DINNERS: nothing is better than a simple, one pot dinner. My dad loves this chili mac, and it’s the best comfort food ever. This potato soup recipe goes together easily in just one pot, as does my vegetable beef soup. Serve all these recipes with this easy rustic instant yeast bread for a wonderful and filling dinner.

7.) KITCHEN CRUSHES: Michael from Inspired by Charm recently renovated the kitchen in his Pittsburgh colonial home. It’s so wonderful, and perfectly fits the feel of his house. One of the prettiest kitchens I have ever seen, and I mean EVER, belongs to Tamara from Citrine Living. There is nothing I don’t like about it! And you don’t want to miss this kitchen from Kris at Driven by Decor. They completely gutted their kitchen space to make room for this beautiful new design…and then they moved!

8.) Every time I shared the hosta plants that were at the house on Sutton Place, there was a chorus of comments about how the deer love them! I recently found this article: 75 Flowers Deer Will Not Eat. This is a comprehensive list of plants that deer stay away from. So if you have an issue with deer eating your plants, take a look!

9.) Just a reminder: Season 2 of Sweet Magnolias will stream on Netflix beginning Friday, February 4th. You can see the trailer {HERE.} Yay! I’m also watching The Gilded Age on HBO Max, and I’ve enjoyed the first two episodes very much.

10.) Just in case you missed it, I recently shared my best Coffee Table Decor Ideas, along with these Snickerdoodle Bars. Coming this weekend is a yummy chicken and rice soup recipe that has tons of flavor…so look out for that!

Have a wonderful week!

1. It’s been a snowy weekend and we’ve been inside. So the cleaning bug bit me and I’ve been cleaning and organizing! I have a robotic vacuum that I LOVE. I set it for to start cleaning in the middle of the night and I wake up to a clean floor and my little robot back in its charging station! Here are a few other products that make my cleaning life easier: this spray mop for hardwood floorsthis dusterthis window cloth, and these cleaning cloths.

2. We eat lots of salad here at our house. But sometimes the lettuce gets bad quickly in the frig. I’m trying this produce keeper to help my lettuce stay fresher longer. Here’s an easy and so delicious salad dressing recipe that you can whip up in a matter of minutes: 1/2 cup olive oil or canola oil, 3 TBS any vinegar or lemon juice, 1 tsp mustard, 1 TBS finely chopped shallots, 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning and salt, and pepper. Put all the ingredients in a jar and shake well. Store in the refrigerator. Here’s a salad dressing maker with dressing recipes right on the bottle.

3. Let’s make soup! Rigatoni Meatball is a scrumptious and so easy soup to make! It’s the latest addition to my soup collection. Make a double batch because it goes fast! Here are more yummy soups to try: Hearty Ham And Bean SoupItalian Tortellini Soup With Sausage And SpinachNani’s Scrumptious PorkAnd Cabbage Soup, and The Best Chicken Taco Soup You Will Ever Eat. And here is my favorite soup bowls! They are so reasonable!

4. Words to live by: Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but enjoy the company of the lowly. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Carefully consider what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible on your part live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:16-18.

5. I have one foot in winter and the other in spring. I’m so looking forward to the earth becoming green again! We can get a head start on spring by using beautiful faux spring branches in our home. These branches and blooms are worth the investment: these white blossom branches, these faux potted paperwhites on sale, and faux green petal leaf branch. Here is a post full of great tips for making faux plants and flowers look more realistic.

6. Decor crushes this week: this gorgeous decorative horse (on sale), this Adirondack hanging basket, this beautiful twin bed, this stunning pedestal dining room table, and this versatile accent tableHow To Mix Decorating Styles In A Room will help you mix and match beautiful furniture with ease!

7. I’m doing a year-long series on downsizing. You can see our downsizing story here. If you have downsized your home, come and tell us your downsizing story. And if you have downsizing questions or ideas for downsizing posts leave them in the comments too!

8. Beautiful home IG accounts I love: @citrineliving@lexiwestergarddesign, and @homestoriesatoz. Did you know I have an Instagram account where I share home decor and more? You can follow me here @stonegable_blog.

10. Reader Favorites: this platform bed I just got in beige and LOVE! This chairthis mirrored traythis console that is a reader favorite almost every week, this pillow with a down insert, this floating picture frame, and this sign in my foyer.

1. As much as you all seem to love decorating and organizing posts, the one thing you love even more is renovation posts! I just posted this small bathroom makeover on a budget and it was a clear reader favorite… :-) Be sure to check it out if you missed it.

2. STORAGE CONTAINERS: I’ve had quite a few questions about the containers I use for keeping organized. My very favorite containers are these pull out drawers which I use for so many different things in various different rooms. They also come in this medium size and this much larger size. I use these open containers for standing items and these woven basket bins and these wire baskets for a cohesive look on shelves. For small items like jewelry I use these compartmentalized boxes and for pantry staples I use these square pop top containers and these rectangular ones, plus these cereal dispensers.

3. And speaking of organizing, probably my top organizing post of all time is this kitchen pantry makeover that uses several of the items above. I designed it to be easy to maintain so that it doesn’t have to be cleaned out over and over.

4. LATEST OBSESSION: Rustic vases! I can’t get enough of them. Like pillows, they are a great way to update a room without making a major investment. I’ve had this ancient Pompeii style for a while and I just love it. Last week I mentioned that I ordered these wonderful vases (in the large size) for the upstairs hallway. Well they arrived and they’re even nicer than I thought! I’m thinking of adding these fabulous ribbed ones to the bathroom flanking the tub, and I’m also considering this black one in the medium size for a pop of contrast in the family room or this textured one for the coffee table. For a warmer tone, I like this one. Here’s a great jug style in white or this is another great option.

5. FILM TO SEE: I’m hearing the most wonderful things about House of Gucci and that Lady Gaga is fabulous and it’s a must see. Definitely at the top of my list!

6. For the longest time I’ve decorated the living room around our Aubusson rug. I think I may be ready to pack it away for a while to give the room a new look. It will be relaxed and neutral so I’m choosing between these three: this antelope pattern or this beautiful neutral with just a touch of soft blue, or this subtle pattern with a natural texture. Which would you choose?

7. WHAT’S INSPIRING ME AROUND THE WEB: I love the perfect mix of French patina with modern in this lovely living room. Who wouldn’t love to nap in this dreamy bedroom (from a wonderful new-to-me account). I’m crushing on every frame in this stunning space – another great mix of old and new (scroll through all the slides).

8. One of my best purchases ever is this very simple thing. It’s the perfect pill box. If you want a nice divided daily pill box, this could be the one. I keep it next to the bed on top of my books and it’s very pretty in pink (although it comes in other colors, too).

9. This week on the blog I shared this shopping guide for Valentine’s Day decor, this inspiring Valentine’s Day table with velvet hearts, this dual-use guest room (that’s also used as an office), and this curated mix of inspiring white marble bathrooms.
