6. LUXURY LINK OF THE WEEK: I’ve mentioned before, I generally wear very understated classics in solid colors with very few details, letting fabric and fit do the heavy lifting. Then I add interest with accessories like handbags, belts and scarves. However, every now and then I buy a great top that either has unique detailing or a great pattern and this one I just got has the latter. Runs a bit small so size up.

7. FAVORITE QUOTE: “The essence of optimism is that it takes no account of the present, but it is a source of inspiration, of vitality and hope where others have resigned; it enables a man to hold his head high, to claim the future for himself and not to abandon it to his enemy.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer

8. WHAT YOU’RE LOVING MOST: A great look at a great price, this neutral rug was easily one of the most popular items this week. Also really popular were this makeup bag, this frayed edge crop leg jean, this on-trend pillow at an amazing price, and my all-time favorite blush. 1.) DECOR CRUSHES UNDER $25: this beautiful white pedestal plate, this set of wood candle holders that’s available in two colors, this linen table runner with tassels, and this super cute white pitcher.
DECOR CRUSHES UNDER $50: I adore this small wool floral area rug (bigger sizes are available too), this generously sized round rattan serving tray, this 21 inch ivory floral table lamp, and this perfectly neutral tall wood lantern.
DECOR CRUSHES UNDER $100: this gorgeous wicker basket, this rustic wood and metal side table, this vintage-inspired blanket ladder, and this small console table that will fit just about anywhere.

2.) SEMI-HEALTHY EASY DESSERT IDEA: this is so simple, yet really satisfying and delicious. Pick up an angel food cake at the grocery, along with some fresh strawberries, and Reddi-wip. (We use the zero sugar.) Generously top a piece of angel food cake with sliced strawberries, and add a dollop of Reddi-wip. Not only is this dessert easy and yummy, it’s very pretty. Of course, you can substitute other fruits for the strawberries…blueberries would be especially yummy. Enjoy!

3.) I’ve been intrigued lately by faux flowers, and recently shared a guide to my favorites. I have also been looking for some small pots of plain faux greenery, and I hit the jackpot the other day on Amazon. This set of little pots is adorable, and the greenery looks very real. You can see them in the image above. Small faux plants like this can be tucked in just about anywhere among your existing decor accessories. (Yvonne gave me the blue ginger jar as a house warming present. If you want one, click {HERE.} Mine is the medium size in French blue…and I love it!)

4.) FAVORITE QUOTE: “The older you get, the more you realize how precious life and time are. You don’t have time for drama, conflict, stress, or idiots. You just want good health, good friends, your precious family, a cozy home, food on the table, good books, strong wi-fi, chocolate, wine, a fan, a working heater, enough money to pay your bills, and a broken scale.” From Women After 50.

5.) WHAT I’M WATCHING NOW: Rescued by Ruby (loved it) and Bennett’s War on Netflix, Call the Midwife and season 2 of Sanditon on PBS, and News of the World on HBO. (Tom Hanks stars and he is incredible.)

6.) It’s time to feature the next OSP food category…last week was appetizers, and this week we’re looking at bread recipes. If I had to pick a favorite category, it would be this one. One of the first recipes I shared, way back in 2013, was my zucchini bread. That was followed by basic banana bread, and then I got a little more adventurous! See all the recipes {HERE.}

7.) My favorite trick for cooking a meatloaf evenly + quickly: use an 8 x 8 inch square baking dish. Make your favorite recipe, and dump the meatloaf mix into the baking dish. (Spray it first with nonstick spray.) Pat the mixture down to the edges of the pan, making sure it’s evenly spread out. I use 1.5 lbs. of ground beef, and I bake the meatloaf for 35 minutes at 375 degrees F. Make perfect sandwiches, a hamburger bun works best, by simply cutting the baked meatloaf into squares.

8.) In case you’ve been busy and missed these posts…I recently shared a huge Guide to Celebrating Spring, everything I know about growing hosta plants, and a recipe for savory and hearty beer bread.

9.) We welcomed the first day of spring, and the weather here in Ohio has cooperated with the calendar. It’s been beautiful. I’m back to walking outside, and it’s definitely soothed my soul. So for the coming week, I wish you soul-soothing weather, and enough time left at the end of the day to relax.

10.) See you next week! XO

Answer to #7- Your floors probably creak from the changes and temperature and humidity inside your home! A brass doorknob is much cleaner than any other type of doorknob. They self clean in about 8 hours due to the metal ions in brass and copper that are toxic to germs and viruses. Whoa!
