1.) RANDOM THINGS I’M LOVING RIGHT NOW: this tunic top is very cute on…runs a bit small so size up. I just got these comfort sandals and they are amazing. I ordered black, but now I want more colors! I love this Pure Color Whipped Matte Lip Color from Estee Lauder. It’s light and very pretty…and my favorite color is Air Kiss. Last, I’ve been wearing these Clark’s sandals for years. I just got the Limited Edition Navy/Black and they are perfect!

2.) FAVORITE QUOTE: “Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, but with great and strong purpose in your heart.” ~Gordon B. Hinckley

3.) WHAT’S NEW ON THE BLOG: the process of updating my old posts continues! I just refreshed this strawberry bread recipe with slightly revised ingredients, all new images, and much more information. I also threw in some gift tags, just in case you want to give these cute loaves of bread to family or friends.

4.) INSPIRING SPACES: I’m completely smitten with this beautiful built-in linen cupboard, I adore the beadboard wall in this bedroom, the floating shelves in this kitchen are pretty perfect, and if your garage needs organized, check out this post for some wonderful inspiration.

5.) SPLURGE OR SAVE: would you rather have this beautiful coastal blue lamp, or this one for way less money? This French grey Le Creuset dutch oven is absolutely gorgeous…but this one from Martha Stewart is amazing too! I just splurged and treated myself to two of these chairs for my office…but you can get the look for less with these chairs, or these. (I got the S&L chairs during their sale…so that helped a little!)

6.) You don’t have to live in a farmhouse to embrace the style, and if you want to add carefully curated farmhouse accessories to your home, I can help. I put together a free series that shows you, step by step, how to add farmhouse charm to your existing decor. Get more information, and sign up for the series HERE.

7.) I follow a really cute couple on YouTube who call their channel “How to Renovate a Chateau” (Without Killing Your Partner). They actually bought a very rundown chateau in Normandy, France…and they are renovating it, room by room. Some of the work has been hired out, but they have done a huge amount themselves. They are funny, and their life is truly out of the ordinary. They recently shared a video called “2 Years in 15 Minutes” and it has over 3 million views!

8.) With warm weather arriving (hopefully) soon, here are two ideas for cool and refreshing desserts. This homemade lemon ice cream recipe is refreshing and so easy, and these citrus banana cream popsicles are another good choice if you want something a bit more fun for kids!

9.) Yvonne, Lory, and I are busy working on our next post for our “Evolution of a Room” series. Coming up on Sunday we are focusing on dining rooms. Our current family dining space is vastly different from the one on Sutton Place, so I’ll be sharing those changes, along with some tips for downsizing from a proper dining room to a smaller space. As always, I would love to have you join my subscriber list so you don’t miss a thing. Click HERE to sign up.

10.) We had a very warm weekend, and something happened which made me so happy. I’m not very familiar with our landscaping, so I wasn’t aware we have a Serviceberry tree…that is until it burst into bloom on Sunday. Talk about the little things making all the difference! It completely made my day. So here’s hoping you all experience a “little thing” or two that will put a smile on your face. Until next week…

2. Mother’s Day is coming in just a little over a week! Here are some thoughtful gifts for the women in your life: this beautiful kimono-style robe, this amazing container gardening book I just got, my favorite cotton pearl earrings, this classic bamboo bangle bracelet, this gold mercury glass candle, and my favorite ginger jars.

3. Let’s use up all those Easter eggs! Here’s the best egg salad. There is a secret ingredient that makes this egg salad something special! Put 6 peeled hard boiled eggs into a large bowl and chop them (I use a pastry cutter to chop). In a separate bowl mix, 1/4 cup whipped cream cheese and chives, 2 TBS mayonnaise, 2 tsp Dijon mustard, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp pepper. Fold the mayo/cream cheese mixture into the eggs. YUM!

4. FINDS under $30-ish- this beautiful monogrammed tray for jewelry or reading glasses, this decorative basket tray, this personalized jute tote (just ordered one in cornflower for summer), this pretty faded blue pillow (most popular reader pick), set of three mini faux fern plants, and this seeded eucalyptus wreath (another reader favorite).

Happy Decorating!

Answers to #7- All of these fruits belong to the rose family. The long-stem variety! Sprinkling a little baking soda into the soil around a tomato plant regularly will make the soil acidic and sweeten the tomatoes.

2. THIS WEEK’S DECOR CRUSHES:

UNDER $50: These cheery faux lemon branches, this whitewashed rattan fruit bowl, this elevated white metal planter stand, and these perfect-for-summer seagrass lanterns.

UNDER $75: This olive tree in a terracotta planter, this carved wood accent table/stool, this modern farmhouse gooseneck sconce, and this set of 2 framed canvas landscape panels.

UNDER $100: This generously sized rattan lamp, this versatile woven bench, this simple but lovely brushed bronze mirror (I just ordered 2 of these for a bathroom), this single dome pendant light (comes in many colors if one is sold out) and this set of 3 tall cast iron taper candle holders.

3. You may hear people questioning the longevity of farmhouse style, but farmhouse dining tables, which have been around way longer than the recent decor trend, are as popular as ever. Here’s an Updated Guide to Buying a Rustic Dining Table.

4. Do you guys know about Fashionphile? It’s a resale website for designer accessories like bags, jewelry, watches, etc. These are high end items, but you can get a deal on very upscale designers (be sure to pay close attention to the condition). Here’s a lovely Louis Speedy in a bright spring color, a gorgeous Valentino crossbody in another seasonal bright, and a pretty-in-pink Gucci top handle. I have both bought and sold on this site and it is reputable, with guaranteed authenticity. I never buy anything below “very good” condition and always read the listing carefully to be clear on the size and details of the item.

5. WHAT’S INSPIRING ME AROUND THE WEB: There are many ways to do rustic chic and this gorgeous hallway view is one the most elegant, with lots of white and notes of vintage French. This stunning entryway is as casual as they come and yet regal and beautiful! This open concept kitchen offers the perfect mix of light oak wood, sleek marble, rustic beams and industrial windows.

6. GREAT LIVING ROOM FURNITURE DEALS: This neutral cozy sofa, this wonderful coffee table with drawers and shelf, this curvy tufted occasional chair or this cane back accent chair, this darling wood and cane end table, and this white oak buffet sideboard.

7. I just watched House of Gucci and really enjoyed it! It’s got everything from beautiful scenery and fashion, to love, money, power and intrigue. Lady Gaga’s performance alone is worth the price of admission.

8. I have fallen in love with this delightful handwoven rug and I’m determined to find a place for it. Not sure where yet, but I’ve fallen hard and I’m crushing big time, so expect to see it somewhere soon.

9. This week on the blog I shared how to decorate your patio like an outdoor living room, how to update the kitchen counters to make an impact on a budget, and for all the empty nesters, or anyone making a lifestyle change: How to Update Your Homestyle to Fit Your Current Lifestyle.

10. UP NEXT: The upcoming installment in our room evolution series looks at the transformation of dining rooms.
