Even though it’s still cold and yucky outside, I thought it might help to bring a touch of what’s to come to the inside. I’d like to share some of my decorating ideas for spring in preparation for blue skies, warm weather, chirping birds. I am so ready!
I already showed you the dining room and antique chest. Next is the sofa which sits smack dab in the middle of my living room. I brought in some lighter, neutral pillow covers. The pieced grain sack covers bring in a bit of blue, which just says spring to me.
and yellow stripes mix things up a little. I’m usually a match-my-pillows kind of girl but in this case I think it works. Definitely unexpected and not my usual look.
One of my favorite ways to welcome a new season is adding accessories that tell a story. A birds nest with eggs along with a trio of little blue birds. An Easter basket with colored eggs…and fresh flowers. I had to settle for grocery store flowers but I didn’t even mind. They brought my tired room to life.
A little silver pedestal topped with the nest added a little something shiny.
The vintage oval tray was my mother-in-law’s. It sat in her dining room on the bottom of a tea cart. I’ve lost track of what happened to the tea cart but I’m glad I have the tray. I’ve thought, many times, about painting it. Somehow I just can’t do it. It adds a subtle layer even though it blends in with the coffee table. Chances are it won’t be meeting a paint brush…but I have definitely learned to never say never!
As usual, Kelly was lurking about while I was taking pictures. I was having issues (shocker) with lighting and my tripod. I wasn’t paying attention and realized when I was editing that she found her way into a picture.
I laughed out loud when I saw this. Perfect isn’t it?
If you aren’t already on over-load, check out my spring and Easter decorating ideas from last year. I’ve updated the post and added sources. Wishing you a happy Friday and a lovely weekend. See you next week!

Love it all—so fresh!
May I ask where you found the ticking fabric? I’ve been wanting to add some ticking pillows to my bedroom redo. Thanks!
Oh my goodness, I LOVE those pillows on the couch. What a great combination of colors and style!!! Very happy colors!
I think your home has a natural “Spring” like look to it year round. The bright yellow and white colorscheme mixed with the pops of blue keep it fresh and crisp. Your new vignette on the coffee table looks so pretty. The picture of your doggie on the sofa just adds icing to the cake too! She is so cute.
Ann, I have always loved the combination of yellow and blue and you have done it so beautifully! Kelly is putting her stamp of approval on the new pillow arrangement! So cute! I would not paint your MIL’s tray, either! Some things are not meant to be messed with! I have a quilt top that my grandmother pieced together. It is yellow and blue and would look gorgeous in your room. I used to have a whole room decorated around it, but now it is in storage. Your beautiful room reminds me that I should get it out again. Have a great weekend!
Wonderful Spring decor ideas, if we can’t have it outside, then inside will have to do, eh? I love that Kelly got into that last shot, Kelly is beautiful! You create such beauty, my friend.
Hugs, Cindy
