Updated February 2026: this visit to Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas took place in 2018. The Magnolia properties have grown and changed over the years, so be sure to check the official Magnolia website for current hours, parking, and policies before planning your trip. If you’re planning your own visit, these Magnolia Market tips are based on our experience and what made the day feel relaxed and memorable.

Most weekends at home are quiet and predictable, which is exactly how I like them. But this particular weekend was different. My daughter invited me to join her for a trip to Waco, Texas, to visit Magnolia Market at the Silos, and I didn’t hesitate for a second. What I expected was a fun getaway. What I didn’t expect was how meaningful it would feel. Magnolia Market was the destination, but the real gift was simply spending the day together. Wandering, talking, and stepping outside of my comfort zone just a little.

We stayed in Dallas and left early on a Saturday morning, arriving in Waco before nine. Starting the day early turned out to be one of the best decisions we made. This post shares the stops we made, what we enjoyed most, and a few helpful tips based on our experience.

First Stop: Magnolia Table
Our day began at Magnolia Table, the restaurant located just a short drive from the Silos. Housed in a beautifully restored historic building, it blends classic American diner style with Joanna Gaines’ signature warmth and charm. From the moment we walked in, everything felt welcoming and thoughtfully done. The service was friendly, the space was bright and comfortable, and the food was exactly what you hope for when you sit down to a relaxed breakfast. Arriving early helped us avoid a long wait, and if you visit, don’t skip the biscuits with strawberry butter. They’re simple, but memorable.

A Helpful Tip: Start Your Day Early
Like many popular destinations, Magnolia Market attracts a crowd. Arriving early made everything feel more relaxed and manageable. As the morning turned into afternoon, we noticed the lines getting longer and the green space filling up quickly. If you can, begin your day as soon as things open. It makes a difference.

Second Stop: Magnolia Market at the Silos
- Before visiting, I imagined the Silos sitting alone in a field. In reality, they’re right in town on a street corner in Waco. The silos themselves are primarily a backdrop, while the Market is housed in the large grain barn nearby.
- Inside, the merchandise is displayed in beautifully styled “rooms.” Kitchen, dining, and living areas that feel straight out of an episode of Fixer Upper. The front section features home décor, while the back area includes apparel and souvenirs.
- There are no shopping carts, so grabbing a large shopping bag at the entrance is helpful.
- I set a budget for myself before walking in, and surprisingly, I managed to stick to it. In a place like that, it’s easy to get carried away, so having a plan helped.

Third Stop: Silos Baking Co.
The bakery is small, and when we arrived, the line stretched down the block. Even so, the process moved efficiently and was impressively organized. We waited less than 30 minutes and left with cupcakes and a few cookies. The system they have in place keeps things moving, even on busy days.

Note on Hours
As of this writing, Magnolia properties are closed on Sundays. Be sure to double-check current hours before planning your visit.

Parking at the Silos
When we visited, there were several parking options near the Silos, including an official lot and additional nearby paid lots. We were fortunate to find parking in a church lot right beside the bakery, which made everything incredibly convenient. Parking arrangements can change, so reviewing current information before you go is wise. Even if you park a little farther away, the area is very walkable.

Fourth Stop: Magnolia Seed + Supply
When we visited in 2018, Magnolia Seed + Supply felt like a charming garden shed tucked beside the Market. It was small, thoughtfully styled, and carried garden-inspired gifts and accessories that weren’t available in the main shop. The raised beds out front added to the experience and made the space feel peaceful and intentional.
Since then, Seed + Supply has evolved. What was once more of a traditional garden retail space is now described as a “Herbarium” experience, with a focus on pressed flowers and gardening-inspired displays. Like many parts of Magnolia, it has grown and changed over time. If you enjoy garden spaces, floral design, or simply slower moments away from the larger crowds, this stop is still worth including in your day.

A Thought About Discounts
When we visited, we were asked at several locations whether we were a military family, as a discount was offered at that time. Policies may change, so if this applies to you, it’s worth asking when you visit.

More Than a Shopping Trip
I am most comfortable at home, and traveling doesn’t always come easily to me. But this weekend was a reminder that stepping outside my routine can be good for my heart. More than anything, I’m grateful I said yes. Time with our children becomes more precious as the years pass, and this day. Walking through the Market, sharing meals, laughing in line at the bakery. They are memories I will always treasure.

If you’re considering a trip to Magnolia Market in Waco, I hope our experience helps you plan a lovely day. And even if you never make the trip, perhaps this little virtual visit was enjoyable all the same.

Thanks Ann for the tips on going to Waco. Would love to go there..maybe one day…Its fun going places with your daughter isn’t it? I have gone on some nice trips with my Mom.❤Glad you enjoyed your special time with your daughter.💞
Oh Ann! I would LOVE to go to Waco! Thank you for the mini trip!
Oh my gosh!!! I just loved the Magnolia experience too! Just went on this trip with my friend and her family in Oct. I felt there was nothing that they hadn’t thought of to make everyone enjoy their time there! They even made outdoor space for “patient” husbands and kids to wait for Mom’s to shop leisurely!
If I choose to live in Auston I will be at Waco. Just not sure this is where I want to perch. I would miss the twins so much.
And like you, my favorite vacation is home. I detest crowds and just feel better at home.
Your advice was great! Thank you so much for sharing!
Ann…

Loved your blog . The hints and the guided tour of magnolia was great. Particularly for those of us who are not able to go there.
Thanks so much for the guided tour and pics. You are right about being able to spend time with your daughter! By the way , that made your post extra special.
I am new to your blog, but I feel like I know you already as a friend.
Hi Patty…I’m so glad you found us. Welcome!
Thank you for sharing your Waco experience with us. I doubt I’ll ever have the opportunity to go to Texas so I doubly enjoyed seeing the sights thru your eyes.
You presented this extremely well outlining every detail. I felt like I was right along there with you.
I am not a traveler either and have no desire to go but I am sure glad you went and showed me
everything! What a wonderful day with your daughter! Thank you for sharing.
Awesome, thanks for the tips-we have a trip planned in a couple of weeks–getting excited!!!
I am so glad I stumbled across your blog. I think the free Easter printables is what drew me in. Then I kept reading and I am so glad I did. My husband and I are planning a trip in June to Dallas TX and spending a day in Waco. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and knowledge of Magnolia.
How wonderful for you to have this special trip with your daughter!! This was a fun post. Those cupcakes are gorgeous! Would you be willing to share with us what you bought while you were there? Good for you for getting out of your comfort zone and making the trip! I’m happy for you!
Hi Ann
Thank you for posting about Magnolia! I am a fan of their show and watched the episode when they purchased the Silos! Knowing them I would agree that everything was very organized. It’s great that you got to spend time with your daughter!my only child (daughter) lives in Australia, so I can understand when you said that you would never refused time spent with your kids.
Thank you for all of your tips. It looked like you both had a wonderful time.
Lucy
What a special day for you and your daughter! Thanks so much for the tips as I’d love to make the trip to Waco this Spring.
I am in Waco, right now, this weekend, with my daughter (her idea) and granddaughter, as well as one of my sisters for “Spring at The Silos.”(& St Patricks Day!) It’s Springbreak in Texas and most of us apparently flocked to Magnolia. A checker at a local CVS pharmacy told me that she’d heard (presumably on the news) that they were expecting over a hundred thousand people this weekend, to visit Magnolia. It’s not hard to believe, judging by the crowds. This is my third time visiting, and my second time being there when they had the streets blocked off for street vendors and food trucks. It’s a lot of fun! I’ve been looking forward to sinking my teeth into a red velvet cupcake since I had one last year, but I was disappointed to learn that they’d removed it from the menu at the bakery. I was told that it’s now a seasonal item. Maybe next time? It was THE BEST cupcake I’ve ever eaten! The one thing though that “Magnolia” needs more of are Restrooms!!!
Thank you so much for this. I enjoyed it greatly. You and your daughter are so cute. I totally understand what you mean about your comfort zone. ☺️
My husband and sister and I went to Magnolia Market two years ago. It was very new and HOT! I wouldn’t recommend going in May. I was born in Texas, but live in California and we were not used to the heat and humidity. Still we had so much fun! Loved every minute of it. The bakery and garden shop were not quite ready to open when we were there so we will have to go again for sure. All your tips were very helpful.
Thanks for this inspiration Ann. My daughters, daughter in law, my sister and adult granddaughters are going to experience Waco this fall! We have rented a Fixer Upper house. Can’t wait!
What a lovely post Ann!
Thankful Im in Texas! I’ve had the privilege of visiting Magnolia Market several times. Love Waco, great city!
Thanks so much for all the tips! I have wondered about the experience, and you gave us great insights! But most of all I appreciate that you shared that you went outside your comfort level! It’s good to know that I am not the only one that has to FORCE myself to leave home! Lots of times I’ve planned things and canceled at the last minute just because I’d rather stay home and putter where I’m comfortable. But I’m with you 100%–if my kids ask, I’m in!
Happy for you. Sounds great!
I enjoyed this post. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing your trip to Waco with us. It’s on my bucket list. I devour every episode of Fixer Upper (several times each) and love Joanna’s Magnolia magazine. A friend of mine visited the Silos recently as well and also talked about the crowds, but it would be so worth the wait(s). Your pictures were great and those and your article gave us a great insight as we, hopefully, plan a trip in the not too far future.
So fun!
Ann,
Your posts are always just right. So easy on the eyes, a treat, in fact, with useful info without rambling on. What a lovely day you had. It makes me want to go. And just maybe someday, I will leave my comfort zone and go see it too! Thanks for sharing such great info with lovely pictures,
Thanks for all the helpful info! I would love to visit one day.
I would love to go there!!! Love that crazy couple!
I want to know what you bought for $150???
Loved your post today!
Thank you for sharing your adventure with your daughter to Waco. live in Texas and have been to Waco several times but not since the Chip and Joanna Gaines put Waco on the map. I to go someday to the Magnolia Market, bakery, and all of the other related buildings. I know it would be a fun outing!
Thank you for sharing your time with your daughter on this trip with all of us! I love watching Chip and Joanna on tv, would love to visit Waco though doubt I will be able to. Therefore I really enjoyed your visit there, thank you again.
I to would love to go to Waco, but I have the feeling that the only way I will see it is through your eyes. I thank you for all the wonderful information and pictures that you included. Y our blogs are so interesting. I enjoy them so very much. I will continue reading them as long as you keep writing them.
Thank you for sharing your trip!! I loved the show fixer uppers and will miss the Gaines family.
Thank goodness I still have your Sutton Place site and blog😄
How funny Anne! We live only 3 hours from there but have yet to visit. We were going to visit this week ut found out it will be crazy there with a show they are doing. I am not a fan of crowds so I hope whenever we get there we luck up on a slow day!:)
Thanks for the good post. I enjoyed seeing pictures of everything. I will never get there because of age and back issues, but I felt like I was on the trip with you. I would like to try one of the cupcakes.
Francis…if I could I would bring you a cupcake!
That is so sweet of you.
Oh this post was a treat! It wasn’t long at all. I would have enjoyed going as well. One day hopefully. I am not comfortable out and about either,I wonder if it has to do with my age. I love doing things with my daughter and son..love making those memories. Glad you had a wonderful visit with your daughter and what a nice trip for her to plan for you two.
How wonderful! Thanks so much for all the great info. I have 3 sisters. Looks like a great place for us to visit.
Thanks again Ann.
Thank you for the insightful information for whenever that time comes that I may get to venture out that way from northern Indiana (driving, since hubby won’t fly). My neighbors have drove out there 2 or 3 times to see it, and I’m guessing they probably will again soon. Lol I love hearing details about how much things cost, even if those prices may change over time, it’s a starting point, along with recommendations at restaurants. Now I’m off to click on the links included! :-)
Wow. What a wonderful trip. And to experience it with your daughter—Perfect. Your pictures and information are great. Can’t wait to see what your $150.00 purchased. I am so glad you got to go. Thanks for sharing
Hi Ann. I was fortunate enough to visit Waco a few weeks ago too! Loved every minute of it. I’d go back in a heartbeat. Wish I had had enough time to visit some historical points of interest in and around Waco such as the Texas Rangers Museum. Glad you had fun with your daughter.
Good for you Ann! I’m so glad you enjoyed your visit and had the added pleasure of your daughter’s company. I’m envious!
Oh, my goodness! I love Chip and Joanna and have been a fan of Fixer + Upper since the beginning. What a fun way to spend a weekend with your daughter. Thanks for sharing!
What a lovely way to spend the day with your daughter. I am hoping to get to Waco and the Magnolia Market when we drive to San Antonio to visit friends. I really appreciate your helpful tips and I plan on saving this post. I don’t like being away from home because of sleeping issues and missing my cat, but I do like seeing other parts of the country, so I hope to do more traveling in the future.
Thanks for all the info Ann. I, too, hope to get there in the not-too-distant future and your tips will help. :) Loved the photos too.
Ann! I recently had the same lovely invite from our oldest daughter ~ for my birthday! We “met in the middle,” between my home, Dallas, and Austin, hers! The opportunity to visit was the highlight of my day, but we enjoyed the trip and seeing Magnolia together very much! It was early on, so the Bakery, the Garden and Seed Market were not yet open, nor was the recently completed restaurant! There was still lots to see, and we had lunch and even found another shopping spot (or two!) around town! It’s fun to see it now, because even on a second visit/road trip with two friends, still not everything was open. More reasons for a third visit, right?! Your pictures are great, btw (I also have an iPhone 8 now, and hope my shots will prove to be as wonderful as yours). Thanks for this lovely “tour!”
p.s. I was treated to a lovely bouquet of faux, but very life-like, magnolias from the shop ~ a very fitting souvenir … !
Ann,
Simply loved your newsletter on Waco.
It’s in my bucket list!
Ann, so glad you got to go. I hope to make a trip in the coming year. Your information was much appreciated.
Thanks for this post. It sounds like a fun trip!
This was super and I loved hearing all the tips and you’re obersevations. Thank you for sharing!! And good for you for or stepping outside your comfort zone!
Loved hearing about your trip and has convinced me to make a trip soon thank you!!
We watch “fixer upper” all the time and will miss them immensely. Wish them all the luck and adding a new family member will keep them busy!
You and your daughter are stunning!
Love your mail!
Cheers
Laura
Thank you for sharing this, Anne! I would love to go with my daughters on a special trip! So happy for you!
Hello, Anne!
I am so glad you had a wonderful trip with your daughter to Magnolia Market! It was great to read about your trip and see your pictures!
I went to Waco with my sister in law two weeks ago, it was pouring down rain, but we had fun and the lines were minimal. I really enjoyed myself and I think you did, too!
I’m so glad you went Ann! I went with my daughter, daughter-in-law and granddaughter at Christmas. I live in Tennessee and of course have been watching Fixer Upper from the beginning and dearly love Chip and Joanna – how could you not? I found the same experience as you in that everyone was so friendly and seem to love what they do and treat everyone so sweetly. I encourage everyone to go if they can. I really believe this young couple are a breath of fresh air and a blessing to our country.
You made me want to go and have the same great experience! Glad you enjoyed it with your daughter! I hope I can go someday!
Thank you, Ann. This was so helpful since we are going to San Antonio in September and I want to go to Waco and see Magnolia everything! Like you, I am most comfortable at home and have to push myself out the door. This is a Vietnam Veteran’s reunion and I enjoy the people, so I’m willing to travel to see them.
Ann I loved this post. I live in Texas and approximately 3 hours away from Waco. I’m planning a trip in May and can’t wait. I’ve been a fan of fixer upper and watched Chip and Joanna renovate the silos. I’m so glad you had a wonderful time. Come back to Texas we have so many things to offer you will not be disappointed. 😀
You made me want to go more than ever! What a sweet trip for you to take with your daughter! Thank you for sharing the story and the tips!
Lucy you! Someday I will go, it’s on my bucket list!

Hi Ann, I was just at Magnolia Farms on Thursday and I have to say your pics have a bigger crowd. My sister has just moved to Plano and I was there to help her unpack. We took the day and drove down. We also had my 1 year old great neice with us. She didn’t really enjoy the trip but we did! I didn’t know the restaurant was opened and because we had the baby with us, we didn’t really explore the town. Im looking forward to a return trip with just grownups! It is absolutely worth the trip!
What fun! I would love to visit there too. I also love spending time with my daughters. Thank you for sharing your trip.
Thank you for sharing. I’d love to go with my daughter, maybe one day!
What FUN for you & your daughter!! Loved your story there. Gonna try & get my Sis to meet up there…someday Soon!
Thanks for the “tour” and tips! I’m a Fixer Upper fan and would love to visit the Silos. Maybe someday!
Thank you so much for the tutorial! Made things so clear about the distance of each location! Hopefully some day I can travel from California to check it out!
Oh Ann what an awesome getaway!!! I appreciate you taking time to give us a wonderful tour of all the Magnolia places. I would love to go there. It’s on my list of places I want to visit. Maybe you can do a post and share all your purchases with us. Would love to see the treasures you found. Making memories with your daughter made it extra special. Again, Thank You. 😍
I have been to the Silo’s twice and your description is spot on! We found a store that was down the street, the opposite direction from the Church parking, that let us continue to park in front of their store to go to The Magnolia Silo’s. I asked for prior permission. I think the name of the store is The Findery. They had beautiful farmhouse things at reasonable prices.
I would love to go to with a very good friend of mine. Great pictures! It looks like you had a wonderful time!
Thanks so much, Ann! I hadn’t thought of ever going to Magnolia Market, but your post makes me want to reconsider. I’m so glad you had a wonderful day with your daughter.
I loved this post on Magnolia. I hope I can visit there one day in the not to distant future. I live in New York but have family in Oklahoma. I think a weekend trip with my Daughters would be wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing your trip and tips.
I haven’t been there yet but plan to go, thanks so much for all the information. So glad you had a chance to spend a day away with your daughter and had a good time.
Loved it ! Very helpful!!
I have been to the Magnolia market, etc. Much fun.
You did not mention the food trucks that are on the grounds. Easy way to get your lunch.
I’m so glad you got to see the Magnolia operation at the Silos! Isn’t it an amazing experience!
I was invited by my adult step daughters to join them there for Silo-brat-ion2017! And you’ve done a great job of describing the experience! ( I come from the middle of the Canadian prairies so it was a whole new world to see the south in October!).
Mostly- I have been impressed with the finely honed marketing – by the Gaines’- which has created this experience! There is no part of your senses which is left untouched! And the costumer service is exemplary- as it aught to be – everywhere!!!
We all can take a page out of their book if we are attempting to market or sell ANYTHING!
Like you- I had this experience because I was invited- but I learned so much as I observed!
This is not my style of decorating- I have lived with old farm stuff for my entire life- – and repurposing farm items that are for the critters- is not my thing personally. That said- I’m impressed that folks are embracing the trend and maybe what I’ve had my entire life will now place me at the front af a decorating movement ? Ha!
And finally- I’m glad you got to spend time with your girl in such an upbeat environment, seeing and learning new stuff together! Kudos to you for stepping out if you comfort zone ! Thanks for sharing your experience- I’m wishing I’d known more before I got to the silos !
Cheers!

Pinning for the tips. My sis lives in Dallas and I want to go here so bad. Just have to talk her into it. Thank you for sharing your trip. Loved every photo and word. And think it is wonderful you got to spend the weekend with your daughter! That is Heaven.
Oh Ann, sounds so wonderful, and I’m so happy for you!! I would go in a minute as well! Thank you for the great tips and methods involved to make it so special, and wish I could go sometime….photos turned out so clear too. I want to get a special souvenir, something that would spur me on to live my dreams….
Thank you ever so much for this article!!! I thoroughly enjoy what the Gaines have done over the years, and it was wonderful to see the layout of the properties and read your descriptions. I’ve enjoyed watching Fixer Upper and hearing about the finished projects. I, like you, enjoy my home and don’t like to travel, now having physical hindrances to prevent the travel. Nice to see it all today in actual pictures and descriptions. Thanks loads and for your inspiring blog!!!
I enjoyed my trip while living vicariously through you; thanx for the update!
Great photos and enjoyed your post very informative, Waco is on my list to go this year. So glad you had the time with your daughter and made shared memories.
Thank you for allowing me to tag along on you trip to Magnolia Market/Waco. It’s not likely I will ever visit so your personal tour is a real treat. Most of all I enjoy your website and all your creativity. Elegant, simple, classy and always the best in taste. I’m a real fan.
Thank you so much for sharing your trip to Waco with us and for all the pictures. I am a huge fan of Fixer Upper and really enjoyed hearing about your trip and seeing the photos.
Oh Ann how wonderful! I love Fixer Upper. Would love to go to Waco sometime. Isn’t it strange how much we change as we age. When I was younger, and really up until I retired I considered myself very outgoing. Now, I have to talk myself into leaving the house. I am glad you left your comfort zone, because it looks like you and Elizabeth had a great time.
I have gotten the same way since I retired. As part of my job life I traveled all over the US and to a couple of foreign countries but now I have turned into a total homebody. Glad it isn’t just me.
I really enjoyed your picture tour. Always fun to go with your daughter. Now I’m thinking about planning a trip. We’re in California so not too far. Thanks
Thank you for this amazing post. So glad you were able to step out of your comfort zone and enjoy the day with your daughter. I hope to see Waco one day and will take your tips with me.
I enjoyed your photos and tips. Not sure that I will ever go because I am not one who likes crowds. It makes me feel better when somebody else mentions that they are out of their comfort zone as they travel. I used to travel frequently and loved it but as I have advanced to my 58 years, I find that I much prefer to be at home!
Ann,
You and your daughter are lovely. I couldn’t agree more, spending time with a daughter is always a blessing! What a lovely place to share time together!
Ann, you and your daughter ae so lovely. Thank you for sharing this fun experience with all of us.
lovely, I hope to go one day but that is still a long way into the future. Loved all the pictures and tips.
Being a native Texan who moved away from many years ago, I hope the bluebonnets were in bloom & that you got to see some while you were there! I’ll miss the bluebonnets scenes most when Fixed Upper ends.
Thanks for the virtual trip, Ann. I have heard a lot about Magnolia Market, so it is great to put your photos with a name. Glad you had fun and I look forward to seeing things you bought appear in your future posts! 😀
How much fun! Thank you for sharing your trip with us. Like you, home is my comfort zone and I don’t step out of it to travel very often. I’m always glad when I do. Thank you for providing a virtual trip of places that are very interesting to the do it yourselfer decorators and the HGTV fans of the Gaines’s!
Ann,
I enjoyed your post about your trip and know that time spent with one’s children is a gift. Sounds like a great trip.
I have recently taken advantage of your free printables and I am so pleased with the results. I am not the most computer snazzy person, but it it was so easy. Now I am hooked on these sweet prints. Thanks so much.
Thanks for sharing, Ann. It was great seeing the place first hand. Looks like you had a great time!
Looks like you had a awesome time. I went just before the Christmas season started, I had an awesome time . Hoping to go again.
So glad you took the trip with your daughter. Special memories for you both. Enjoyed reading about your trip and seeing the the pictures you took. Thank you for sharing.
I enjoyed this post, so much! I would love a follow up that includes pics of your purchases! You & your daughter are just darling-great photos & great memories for you both.
What a wonderful experience. Thank you for sharing your tips. Anytime we are able to spend time with our adult children is a blessing. Glad you had a great time.
Ann,
I’m so happy that you were able to visit Waco & all things Magnolia! Wish I had known you were coming & I could have given you a personal tour of our lovely city.
BTW your blog is the only one I consistently read. Thanks for all you do to brighten our day!
I am so glad I have met you..this is the first time I felt moved to comment ..I think we have much in common
You have made me want to visit Waco!
What a fun experience. Thank you for sharing. I also believe anytime spent with ones children is time well spent. I always enjoy your blog posts.
This was not too long and I read every word and studied each photo. Your blog is one of my favorites (I only have 2 favs) and you could never write “too long” for me.
So glad you had a great time. And you flew alone. As a newish (2-year) widow, I finally ventured out yesterday to the Philadelphia Flower Show, something both hubby and I did together. Went on a bus ride and totally alone. I feel like a big girl now. So you’re a big girl too now!
Thanks for being you. P.S. Your daughter is beautiful!
Thank you for sharing your trip. I would like to visit Waco/Magnolia market but felt the crowds would be overwhelming. I just might try it now after your experience. Thank you !
Thank you for sharing and the pictures!
Your post will be my only trip to Waco.
I enjoy the show and am happy for the Gaines’ success.
Where is your next trip?
Have a great week!
Thanks for the tips. Magnolia Market is not on my bucket list…but who knows, if I’m ever in the area? I think it’s remarkable what they have done. I hope you are going to show us what you purchased! ;)
I would love to take a road trip with my daughters to Waco and all things Magnolia. I enjoyed your photos and tips! I’ve bookmarked this just in case we visit this summer. Super post, Ann!
Thank you for sharing your trip and tips! I do plan to go sometime!! My husband was in Dallas for business and drove down and bought me a baseball cap!! My new yard work hat!!
Your trip sound’s amazing. I would love to get to Silo’s myself. Everything is so green and the tulips are in bloom. We still have snow and are expecting more. Thanks for sharing your trip.
Just curious if there is anything else to see in Waco besides Magnolia.
Hi Harriet! One of my readers over on Instagram mentioned a place called The Findery. We didn’t know about it but she highly recommended it. Now I want to go back!
Thank you! I love that your daughter arranged this trip for the two of you. By the way, I just started sewing again after many years and have appreciated the tips on your site regarding everything from the best iron to perfectly finished seams.
Visited my daughter in Austin this past December and we did a daytrip to Waco. Enjoyed a rest stop at Buc-cees halfway there. Loved everything Magnolia, especially the delicious cupcakes! Then we shopped for hours at Spice Market down a couple blocks from the Silos. I was in heaven wandering the over 50 boutiques, most with handcrafted goods. Nothing like that in Hawaii except our seasonal craft fairs. Can’t wait to try the Table. Mahalo, thank you, Ann, for sharing your wonderful mother/daughter visit to Magnolia.
Go to Spice Village….it’s not about spices, though! It’s a great shopping destination in Waco. Homemade goodies, clothes, candles, jewelry, home decor, etc. It’s a huge building subdivided by booths. Google Waco. There’s lots to do. I visited Some of the antique shops that Chip and Joanna showcase on their show. I was super excited to actually see and even talk with Chip!!! He was there shooting a segment for the show. He was so friendly and even offered to take a selfie with me!!
Kudos to the Gaines as they seem to have revitalized Waco all on their own! I will miss their show but can be inspired by their magazine.
Oh yes!
The Baylor University campus alone offers so much, from live bears in a wonderful habitat to the Armstrong Browning Library, gorgeous architecture and a huge collection of the works of Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Check at the Hooper Schaefer Theater to see if Baylor’s acclaimed theater department has a current play to see. One of my daughters is a professional actor who is a graduate of that theater department and it is top notch. Like music? See if there is a concert by any of the Baylor choirs. And if there’s a sports fan in your group check out any of the sports teams at Baylor. Many of the teams are nationally ranked.and the stadiums and facilities are top notch.
The Mayborn Museum on the Baylor campus offers a great variety of exhibits. Elsewhere there is the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and the Dr Pepper museum. The Cameron Park Zoo is popular, too.
And like others have said, fun shopping at Spice and other shops downtown. Plenty of good places to eat throughout Waco, too.
Ann, what a sweet post! Spending time with your daughter and having such a good time. It seems everything Chip and Joanna does is well done and well run. Thank you for sharing!
Oh Ann,what a fabulous trip,a dream of mine is to go to Magnolia Markets too.Your pictures are beautiful and spending time with your daughter is priceless.I understand the anxiety of traveling and not wanting to venture out, I feel the same way.I’m glad you ventured out and made the trip.
What a lovely weekend you had. Thank you for the tips. Adding it to my bucket list.
Hi Ann,
Thank you so much for your post and all the details. It couldn’t have been more timely as I’m going in May with my cousin as a 60 th birthday gift from my daughters!
All the tips were so great, thank you so much. You’ve just heightened my excitement 100%!!!
Oh I’m so glad! Enjoy every minute. :)
what a lovely post, would love to visit myself- might just have to schedule one now! thanks for sharing
It was so exciting to see the Magnolia enterprise from a perspective that was captured by a tourist and not a push from a magazine. I am amazed at the blooming development of the Gaines’ simple idea of home improvement. Thank you for posting your trip. It was a delight to see it! I was wondering if you visited all the shops in one day? Thank you again!
Hi Bree…yes, you can do all the Magnolia stuff easily in one day. If you plan to do other things in Waco, you would need to add a day or two to the trip.
Thank you Ann for taking us along on your trip to Magnolia, such a wonderful adventure to share with your daughter. I’m a Magnolia groupie and the Silos are on my Bucket List also. Think I will talk to my son and see if he would like to go some weekend. He just bought a new house and asked me to take him to that place where I bought all that neat stuff for the house—— Home Goods. We went two weeks ago and had a great time. Spending adult time with your children is definitely one of the perks of getting old.
So very happy you went and I hope I can also make that trip one day. Yes, and one of the best things of the whole trip was spending time with your daughter. I think I will mention this to my daughter and see if we can get a group to go. Glad you had fun! By the way you and your daughter look lovely! 🌷
Waco is a fun place, fortunately I live an hour away, and can visit quite often. Your pics and details are great, thanks for sharing.
I am ever so glad you took the trip! I would love to visit the Magnolia Esperience and with your information I may just get there! You tempted your readers with just the right amount of info!
By the way, both you and Elizabeth look marvelous in the photos. You are celebrities too you. know in the world of many of us!
My husband and I are considering going to Waco this Spring so this was interesting and helpful. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.
Such a fun day! It felt like I was right there with you. The best times are those spent with family. Enjoy every minute with your daughter. The memories I cherish most are those of time spent with my Mom.
You and your daughter are adorable! What a great trip. It was nice to read how much fun your had together. Thank you for sharing. I am going to gather my sisters so we can head to Waco Tx. :0)
Thank you for sharing your trip and tips. You’ve made me want to go there even more than I did before. :)

Thought this visit to Waco was great and enjoyed the buildings and the information you provided. JoAnn has a touch and seems to be a creative machine. Thank you for sharing your visit.
Many thanks for the tips. I am hoping to make the trip in May when my husband and I go to DFW for our son’s graduation from grad school. Can’t wait!! Love all things Chip and Joanna.
Thank you for sharing. It is #1 on my bucket list but if I never get there your visit has helped me to see it. My comfort zone is home also so I understood that part very well. I used to live in Dallas years ago. To realize I was only a couple of hours away makes me miss TX even more! Thank you so much for your post today.
Dear Ann~
This is on my bucket list for sure.
I hope to go one day with my sister, we watch the show together via phone. She lives in PAvand I in NY, but we laugh and love doing this together.
You gave me such good inside. Like you I thought the silos were where the shops were.
I’m so glad you had a great time with your daughter. I know what you mean when you get to spend time with her. Both my girls live in CA so when I get to spend time with them it’s the best.
Have a lovely day.

Loved this post! I don’t travel easily either, and my husband and I will probably never go to Waco even though he’d go if I asked. But it’s nice to see it through your eyes. Love that you are wearing a tunic and leggings – I’ve bought some through J. Jill, too, after your recommendations. Keep up the good work, Ann.
You and your daughter look so happy in the pictures.
Thanks for my “virtual” tour of Magnolia! Can’t wait to see the items you picked up styled in your lovely home.
Thanks for the fun photos and information. It looks like a fun trip. Your tips were very helpful.

Thank you for the tips. I am letting my DIL know. She is visiting her best friend in Dallas next weekend and they visiting Waco. There is a large event at the Silos next weekend….which may not be a great thing! I certainly do enjoy your blog as well as your printables. Have a wonderful day.
Ann,
I loved your post!! I could have written your last paragraph…”let’s stay home” ,is my favorite saying BUT a mother-daughter weekend is a special opportunity. What a nice thought from your daughter.
I would love to go there. Thanks for the travel tips. I hope I can use them someday with my daughter!
This is a destination for me as well. As soon as possible I plan to pack up the motor home and head down there from Pa! I will be on the road a while and would like to do it in early Spring…maybe next year. You have confirmed my plans! (husband will thank you!)
I feel like I’ve been to Waco. You have a wonderful way of sharing. I’m so proud for you that you made this trip with your daughter. Makes precious memories that you will always have.
Joanna and chip are always fun to watch and and a great way of presenting great ideas.
It’s good to get out of our comfort zone. It helps build our character. And my personal philosophy is life is the real play and no more practices.so enjoy.
Thank you, thank you for taking me with you to Waco and the Magnolia shops. I love their concepts and willingness to repurpose. I had a great time.
Your blog is so inspirational. Just pure loveliness.
I’m a homebody from Ohio. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with all us stay-at-homers.
I just love your web site. So simple and classy!
I loved your pictures and stories about your trip. Thanks for sharing them.
Thank you for sharing and giving Market tips. I am looking forward to travel somewhere this year with my sister. I will add Waco to my list. Your printed top in the last photo is so cute.
Lucky you! I’ve been watching their show since it started and enjoyed your tour. How delightful to spend time with your daughter and being brave to travel alone too. That’s a start for you to fly and see your Granddaughter:). I bought a little jadeite cupcake plate at Target a few weeks ago from their line, very cute. Kathleen in Az
Please show us what you bought there in a post please:).

Thanks Ann. I doubt I’ll I’ll ever visit Waco but I enjoyed your post tremendously. Thanks for taking us along with you & sharing your hesitation. I can relate.
What a lovely day you had. So thankful you moved out of your comfort zone and enjoyed the day with your girl. That is always a blessing.
My daughter and I spoke about going to the Silos but she recently passed away, thank you for letting me see this through your eyes. I read every last word.
