Discover simple home decor ideas, style tips, and seasonal inspiration through The Curated Life…your guide to living beautifully every day.

Welcome back to The Curated Lifeโฆa cozy midweek pause filled with holiday inspiration, comforting ideas, and simple ways to make the season feel meaningful. As the days grow shorter and the weeks fill with activity, I hope this space offers a little calm, a bit of beauty, and reminders to slow down and savor the moments that matter most. Iโm so happy youโre here.

1.) the thoughtful holiday guide
I came across a lovely article filled with classic Christmas inspiration, and it reminded me how easy it can be to recreate that โmagazine lookโ with simple, thoughtful touches. Here are a few ideas you can adapt for your own home. No fuss, no pressure, just small changes that make things feel special.
- Hang paper snowflakes from the ceiling: mix different sizes and paper colors, then place just a few in connected spaces for a cohesive look. They add an old world charm and lovely movement. If youโd rather not make them yourself, there are beautiful ready-made options available online.
- Try handmade garlands: paper chains, dried fruit slices, popcorn, and cranberries all add charm without much effort. Theyโre inexpensive, nostalgic, and perfect for layering on trees, mantels, or doorways.
- Dress up your stairway banister: if you have a staircase, a garland-wrapped banister always feels festive. Choose faux greenery that looks real, then tuck in ribbon, lights, pine cones, or berries. When we lived on Sutton Place, this was one of my favorite parts of decorating. It felt magical every year.
- Refresh thrifted candle holders: look for old candle sticks at thrift stores and give them new life with a coat of red spray paint. Itโs an easy, budget-friendly way to add a pop of holiday color to your mantel or dining table.
- Hang wreaths from your windows: itโs a classic look that never goes out of style. Whether you choose simple greenery or something more detailed, window wreaths instantly make your home feel welcoming from both inside and out.

2.) WORDS WORTH SHARING
“May your December be filled with grace over perfection, presence or pressure, and love over everything else.” ~Found HERE.

3.) Down Memory Lane
I recently watched the new Chevrolet holiday commercial on YouTube, titled Memory Lane, and it stirred up all kinds of warm memories and emotions. It beautifully captures the simple life of a family over decades, childhood Christmases, holiday drives, and eventually another generation carrying on the tradition. Without spoiling too much, itโs a gentle reminder of how quickly life moves and how precious every moment really is. If you need a quiet moment of reflection this season, this video is the kind that tugs on your heartstrings. One that makes you pause, remember, and simply feel grateful for the journey. Watch Memory Lane here.

4.) Gather + Savor
If youโre looking for a few easy appetizers for the holiday season, these recipes are wonderful options. Sugared cranberries add a touch of sparkle, the Old English cream cheese dip is always a hit, and baked brie feels special without any fuss. And if you enjoy something warm and savory, salted oven roasted pecans are a meaningful favorite in our family. My husbandโs grandmother made them every Christmas, placing small bowls of pecans around the house. After she passed away, we took turns making them each year to carry on the tradition. Festive and full of heart, each one of these recipes is just right for December gatherings.

5.) THINGS WORTH MENTIONING
- Whatโs ahead: still to come is a moist and flavorful gingerbread recipe. I baked it as muffins, but it can just as easily be made into a cake. Itโs old-fashioned, deeply spiced, and perfect for this time of year.
- What I shared last week: last weekend was filled with simple Christmas content that I hope inspired you to welcome the season. Gifts in a Jar Ideas and Cinnamon Ornaments are easy, timeless projects that bring a bit of warmth and tradition into your home. For A Sunday Well Spent, I featured our living room decorated for Christmas, along with a few easy rituals and small moments that help this season feel calmer, cozier, and more meaningful.
- Millie’s recommendation: If you have a pup and live in a colder climate, I recently found the nicest dog coat. It comes in sizes for the tiniest to the largest dogs, with lots of colors and patterns to choose from, and the quality is excellent. It took Millie a few days to get used to it, but now she loves it!

Wow! That Chevrolet commercial is a real tear jerker and I absolutely love your entire post. Hope you have a Merry Christmas๐โค๏ธ๐
Love the Chevrolet Memory Lane commercial. Along the same lines, one that I love is the Amazon commercial with the three elderly ladies and the sledding down the hill. Brought back memories, and a few tears. I’m alone for the holidays this year, but not lonely. Thank you for reminding me of the memories I treasure. Best wishes for a peaceful and memorable holiday season.
Thanks for sharing “Memory Lane”- it brought tears to my eyes. Such a poignant reminder of how quickly time passes and to seize the day! Hope you have a wonderful holiday season, Ann!
What a sweet gift you leave us with.
I’m loving your “Words Worth Sharing”.
I was touched and promptly sent it off to my dear friends.
Each person and each Christmas is different, but this unifies all of us.
Thank you!
Hello Ann, just a quick note to say thank you and this version of your blog is the best ever. There is a kind and thoughtful ambiance that I and many others I am sure appreciate. I struggle, as many others do, at this time of year. My Dear Son passed 15 years ago, it never gets easier I’m afraid, despite every coping mechanism known to man. But what I have learned is that struggle, combined with the holiday memories, make it OK, it is the memories that we hold and build from year to year, that makes it our holiday, our family, and our faith in the future. May your Christmas be special for you and yours, and Millie’s, of course.
Oh my goodness – grab some tissues if you’re going to watch Memory Lane! Thank you for all the ideas and recipes.
The Christmas commercial brought me to tears. Also your blog illustration’s are detailed and lovely, you have always been so down to earth, and a great teacher thank you! Love to Millie too, we miss our dog Rex.
Ann, the Memory Lane video brought tears to my eyes. We were a Chevy family and my 1st car was a Chevy Vega. (oil burner but it was all I needed back and forth to nursing school.) Thank you for your words and ideas.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
May 2026 be a year of health and prosperity.
God Bless
Lynn
Yes Ann, the Memory Lane video brought tears to my eyes and many memories flowing back. My Dad always bought Chevrolet’s, and I remember us packing food in the car to go to grandpa and grandmas house! When my kids were young we would do the same in our Chevrolet. We also made the cinnamon ornaments, I still have a cookie tin of the ornaments to open and smell every year! The grandparent’s and parents have passed but we have so many good memories!
Have a Blessed Christmas Ann.
Merry Christmas your right Memory Lane is a tissue video
There’s a Folgers Coffee one that gets me to …….
