All three of these smoothies follow the same basic idea. A combination of fruit, liquid, and a few added ingredients to give them more staying power. I often include oats because they blend easily and help make a smoothie more filling without adding much effort. Using frozen fruit is another simple step that makes a big difference. It creates a thicker texture and keeps the flavor from being watered down. Here are the three smoothies included in this collection. Each one is easy to make and can be adjusted based on what you have on hand.

This banana oatmeal smoothie is very creamy, and especially satisfying. The oats give it a hearty texture, while the banana and vanilla keep the flavor simple and classic. It’s also one of the most popular smoothie recipes on my site, and for good reason. This is an easy option for breakfast or a quick meal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Oats blend very well and add thickness and substance. They help make a smoothie more filling without changing the flavor too much.

No. If you use frozen fruit, there is no need to add ice. Ice is only helpful when using fresh fruit.

Adding ingredients like oats, nut butter, or yogurt can make a smoothie more satisfying and help it last longer between meals.

Adding easy smoothie recipes to your routine is a simple way to include something fresh and nourishing in your day. The key is to keep the ingredients uncomplicated so it feels manageable and not like extra work. When a recipe is easy to make and easy to enjoy, it’s much more likely to become a regular part of your routine.

Ann, your smoothie recipes look so delicious! I’m going to try a few of them. Thanks for sharing with us.

  2. I use Simply Tera’s pure whey protein. It has 22g of protein, 1g of sugar, rBGH free in the plain unsweetened. It’s great in smoothies and I’ve been using it for 3 years now. They have other flavors as well.

  3. Thanks for sharing Ann.

  4. Ann – Thanks for the great recipes for smoothies. I believe you have inspired me to give a couple of these a whirl. Can you recommend some protein powder that tastes good (I know, right?) and isn’t filled with sugar to make it taste good. Would be very interested in your take. Thanks.

    1. I’m not Ann, but I have a favorite! :-)
http://www.ilikechike.com sells meal replacement protein powder that you can use by yourself OR in a smoothie in VANILLA, STRAWBERRY, CHOCOLATE (my favorite) or BANANA. . . It’s amazing!
I use it, my sister uses it & my 96 year old Papaw uses it along with the frozen fruit like Ann mentions above. SO good! :-)

Thanks Deborah…I don’t really use protein powder, so I was stumped as to what to recommend!

  5. I love new smoothie recipes. Smoothies are about the only way I can eat what I know to be healthy bananas, since the texture, by itself, is not pleasant to me. Thanks for posting your favorite recipes.

    1. Ann, thank you so much for these recipes! I can’t wait to try all three. I enjoy your posts and appreciate all that you do!

  6. Thanks Ann! These look delicious!
