Discover simple home decor ideas, style tips, and seasonal inspiration through The Curated Life…your guide to living beautifully every day.

June has a way of arriving quietly, and somehow, all at once. It’s not quite the start of the season, and we haven’t yet reached the middle. It’s that lovely in-between month when the days stretch a little longer, the pace begins to soften, and there’s finally time to enjoy the simple things that make summer feel special. A walk in the evening, flowers on the table, a porch chair at the end of the day, or a few minutes spent doing nothing at all. June may not ask much of us, and that might be exactly what makes it so nice.

1.) Simple Americana Living
I didn’t buy anything new for this little patriotic corner, except for the flag print. When I saw it online, I knew right away it would be perfect above the shaker pegs in the kitchen. The colors were soft, the size was just right, and it gave me a good starting point for adding a few simple red, white, and blue touches.

I used things I already had. It only took a few minutes to put together, but it changed the feeling of the whole space. I can see this wall from my kitchen sink, so I’ve been enjoying it every day. It’s a small update, but it feels fresh for summer and just right for the season. 2.) Words Worth Sharing
“Please never forget how brave it is to continue to show up in a story that looks so different than what you thought it’d be.” ~Liz Newman

3.) Summer Comforts
One of the easiest ways to add fresh summer flavor to the table is with flavored butter. It takes just a few minutes to make, but it can be used in so many ways. Spread lemon basil butter on warm bread, add rosemary honey butter to biscuits or roasted vegetables, or serve strawberry butter with muffins, toast, or scones. Each one starts with softened butter and a few simple ingredients, and they keep well in the refrigerator or freezer. It’s a small thing, but it makes breakfast, dinner, or a simple snack feel a little more special. If you’re looking for something easy to make ahead, these flavored butter recipes are a sweet little summer extra.

4.) Gather & Savor
There is something especially enjoyable about using fresh herbs in the kitchen. A handful of basil, rosemary, mint, parsley, or thyme can make even the simplest recipe feel fresh and full of summer flavor. I gathered my favorite recipes that use fresh herbs in one place, including sweet and savory dishes, drinks, salads, side dishes, and easy main dishes. If your herb pots are growing, or you picked up a bundle at the grocery store, this is a lovely place to find a little inspiration.

There are simple ways to use flags, flowers, baskets, pillows, and pieces you may already have. I also put together everything I know about growing rosemary, including planting tips, watering advice, harvesting, and easy ways to use it in the kitchen.
- What’s Ahead: coming this weekend, I have two summer recipes that are perfect for gatherings or simple dinners at home. I’ve updated my cookie bars recipe, and have a brand new recipe for BLT pasta salad. Stay tuned.
