Discover simple home decor ideas, style tips, and seasonal inspiration through The Curated Life…your guide to living beautifully every day.

Welcome back to The Curated Life…a midweek pause filled with simple ideas, seasonal beauty, and little things that make everyday life feel more intentional. Whether you stop by every week or this is your first time, I’m truly glad you’re here.
This space is where I gather the things that don’t always make it into a full blog post, but still feel worth sharing. You’ll find home inspiration, recipes from my own kitchen, thoughtful tips for living well, and whatever else has been on my mind lately. So grab a comfy spot, and let’s take a look at what’s inside this week.

1.) Celebrate The Season At Home
Sometimes it’s the smallest touches that make a home feel most in step with the season. A framed print in the foyer, a thoughtful tag tied to a gift, or a seasonal recipe card pulled out at just the right time. All of these little things help us pause and enjoy what makes this time of year special.

To make it easy, I’ve gathered all of my fall printables into one collection. It’s a big one that includes 37 pages filled with wall art, gift tags, recipe cards, and more. Whether you’d like to add a bit of seasonal charm to your décor or share something thoughtful with a friend, this collection has plenty of simple ways to bring autumn into your everyday life.

2.) Finding steady ground
“AS YOU GROW WISER…your hearing gets worse, but you listen a lot better. Your sight gets blurry, but your vision becomes more clear. You sometimes can’t think of the right words, but you’re no longer just throwing out any that come to mind without care. You realize that your heart doesn’t pump quite as well, but that every beat counts, because every beat means that you are still here, still learning, and still loving as time goes by.”
~Doe Zantamata
The first time I read these words, I’ll admit that they brought tears to my eyes. Since then, I’ve gone back to them again and again. They’re comforting without being condescending, and they validate what so many of us feel as we get older. Aging isn’t always easy, but this perspective reminds me that we really are okay, and that life can still be very good. We just have to recognize that time is precious, and we can’t afford to waste it. Every day is another chance to listen more closely, see more clearly, choose our words with care, and embrace the people and moments that matter most.

3.) Magazine-Worthy Made Simple
I came across this lovely Sussex cottage, and it’s filled with cozy ideas that feel approachable and timeless. Take a look, and then come back for a few simple ways you can borrow the look:
How To Get The Look
- Layer a rug over carpet: in the foyer, a colorful striped rug is layered on top of what looks like jute carpeting. The combination adds texture, warmth, and helps protect the main carpet from wear.
- Painted barstools: the kitchen features rush-seat barstools painted in a lovely, dark green. Against the lighter island, they stand out beautifully, and bring a fresh pop of color. Painting stools or chairs you already own is an easy, budget-friendly way to make them feel brand new.
- Fabric instead of cabinet doors: the pantry is framed with painted paneling and open shelving, but instead of traditional cupboard doors, little block-print curtains are used. It’s unexpected, charming, and such a practical way to soften and hide storage space.
- Colorful pillows on a neutral sofa: one of the simplest ways to refresh a neutral sofa is by adding pillows in different colors, sizes, and patterns. It’s a low-cost way to boost the cozy factor while instantly changing the mood of the room. I do this all the time…as you can see in the images above and below.

4.) Gather + Savor
Here’s a little kitchen trick that makes the best meatloaf sandwiches: instead of baking your meatloaf mixture in a loaf pan, spread it into an 8 x 8 baking dish. It comes out the perfect thickness for slicing into sandwiches, and it bakes in just 35 minutes. Any basic recipe that uses about a pound and a half of ground beef will work, and you can easily adjust the flavors to suit your taste. It’s simple, practical, and a great way to stretch one dinner into two.
5.) THINGS WORTH MENTIONING
- What’s ahead on Sunday: I’m sharing our front porch with this year’s fall touches. It’s simple, traditional, and welcoming.
- What you might have missed: easy living room decor for fall, the for-subscribers-only September digital calendars, and a look back at what I shared in August.
- The Autumn Market has been refreshed and is ready for the season! I’ve gathered cozy favorites…pillows, throw blankets, lanterns, candles, doormats, and more. It’s all in one place to make fall decorating simple and fun. You can browse the updated collection HERE.

Ann, love your pictures at the beginning of your posts. Did you have an artist draw? Love how it’s presented and would like that to be done. Can you share? Thank you and love your new look.
Hi Diana…I talked about this in last week’s TCL. Here is the link: https://www.onsuttonplace.com/the-curated-life-8/ Thank you!
I am loving this posts! 🥰 I look forward to reading them on Wednesday’s.
Thanks 😊
I love the curated life. It’s quiet and warm. It’s like having a cup of coffee and a chat, with a good friend.
Thanks for your inspiration and lovely ideas ! I am looking forward to the beauty of fall on our small farm where I live in Ohio .
Always love your posts! I am looking for a sofa and I admire yours. Any suggestions for a smaller couch/sofa?
Hi Mary…I’m afraid I don’t have any suggestions. My sofa is from a local furniture store that went out of business a few years ago. I haven’t shopped for sofas for years!
