Make your own seeded DIY eucalyptus garland with these easy, step-by-step directions. It’s the perfect fall centerpiece idea for your table.
My philosophy about centerpieces, like most home décor, is that simple is best. My favorite method begins with layering stems of greenery, followed by adding natural elements and a pop of color. Most of the time I use trays to layer, but for this centerpiece, I began with table runners and then added a DIY seeded eucalyptus garland.

Eucalyptus Garland: Supplies Needed
- One piece of 1/4 inch twine/rope that measures the length of your tabletop, or to your desired length.
- Scissors.
- Floral wire cut into 5 inch pieces.
- Wire cutters.
- Fresh or dried eucalyptus stems. Seeded or silver dollar eucalyptus are both good choices. If you buy fresh eucalyptus at the grocery store or Trader Joe’s, allow it to dry naturally with plenty of airflow.
Seeded Eucalyptus Garland Steps
- On a flat surface or table, lay out the piece of rope lengthwise. This is your garland base.
- Gather 2 or 3 long stems of seeded eucalyptus and attach the first bunch to one end of the rope with a piece of floral wire.
- Continue adding each bunch of eucalyptus to the rope, making sure to cover the wires.
- Trim the ends of the rope if needed.
- Lay the garland on your table.
- Fill in any bare spots with more eucalyptus.
As soon as the garland landed on my table I just knew it was perfect. The eucalyptus leaves had dried to a sort of silvery shade of green and even though it wasn’t super full, it was full enough. I nestled in four orange velvet pumpkins and four birch candles. Other ideas for accessories to tuck in are faux or dried berries, pinecones, ribbon, dried wheat, or real gourds. (Make sure to preserve real pumpkins and gourds first.)
From start to finish, this DIY eucalyptus garland fall centerpiece took less than an hour…and that included ironing both table runners! You can use this method to make any kind of garland. Use this garland all during the holiday season on your table or mantle. Some ideas are:
- preserved or fresh boxwood
- cedar pine branches
- arborvitae
- dried hydrangeas
- any other fresh greenery
