I’ve had an ongoing love affair with velvet pumpkins for a few years. I think they have a special charm and the best thing is that they can be displayed for months without rotting! I had a few velvet pumpkins that I had collected, but sadly they were destroyed by water in my basement. When the opportunity to work with LoveFeast Shop was offered, I have to admit I was thrilled.
My best tip for using velvet pumpkins in your fall decorating is to use some sort of natural element as a base. By doing that, the pumpkins come to life and are easy to arrange. Any kind of real or preserved greenery will work, but I chose seeded eucalyptus. It dries beautifully and is the prettiest shade of green. To begin, I added eucalyptus to my large ironstone bowl and then nestled in some pumpkins.
Tip: Seeded eucalyptus can be hard to find. It’s worth the hunt though! I had to special order mine from the floral department of a local grocery store. Click HERE to see seeded eucalyptus online.
After that, I cleaned my silver urns and added eucalyptus to them as well. I just love the two twin, neutral pumpkins set on top of the urns.
One other lovely feature of the pumpkins is their stems. They are from real pumpkins and gourds…and in addition to adding interest, they add another natural element.
The Hot Skwash™ pumpkins come in many different sizes…and the tiniest ones have the biggest personalities. I think they are just the cutest!

These are beautiful Ann! I love the way you combined them with natural elements! That’s the touch that YOU add that makes them extra special!
I adore velvet pumpkins. Unfortunately, they haven’t caught on here in the UK, but I managed to pick up a gorgeous one from Jo-Ann’s when I was Stateside recently. Seeing yours, Ann, I wish I’d had more room in my suitcase!
I love the pumpkins and those gnarly stems are the final touch.

Ann I just wanted to tell you I think your silver urns are the prettiest urns I’ve ever seen. I know you are grateful to have them and they will pass down as heirlooms in your family for many years to come.
Beautiful, Ann! Love the natural look that some of the pumpkins have and how you showcased them with the seeded eucalyptus
I just adore all the vignettes of the velvet pumpkins. I bought my first one probably 5 years ago and love it.

I am in love with these beautiful pumpkins, and this giveaway i wonderful. I love the natural set or the purple.
Oh my love the velvet pumpkins and with the silver “beautiful” God bless
Love how you decorated with the pumpkins. So beautiful and fabulous!
You mentioned the seeded eucalyptus, that it dries well. Are you putting it out fresh, and just allowing it to dry with time, or do you dry it first?
Thanks for the info.
Hi Ann…yes I put it out fresh and it will dry over time. I have not done it, but I know bloggers who keep their dried seeded eucalyptus and use it year after year!
I love the look, but would think they would get so dusty.
I want to make a rosemary wreath.what are the steps to sucess
Always so classy and classic Ann and my favorite is the champagne bucket idea. Thanks for joining the tour!

I am loving seeing all your Fall ideas, decor, Printables! I love your blog! I get excited every time I see a email from you in my inbox :)
Will using the fresh eucalyptus stain the velvet pumpkins?
Hi Sheila…the only time eucalyptus stains, to my knowledge, is when it gets wet. There is no moisture at all around the pumpkins so they will be perfectly safe. Thanks!
Love your fall tips and your pumpkins are too cute!!!
I just love your Blog! You are so creative and generous for sharing all your wonderful Ideas with all of us!
Please continue to Inspire all of us!
Those are all beatiful pumpkins and I like how you displayed them. Too bad you lost your others but at least you found a nice way to get more. Love the eucalyptus accent.
They are very pretty but a bit overpriced in my opinion. Waaaay beyond my budget limitations.
Thanks for the tip about using seeded eucalyptus as a base for decorating with the velvet pumpkins. The eucalyptus really do set off the color and texture of the velvet. I will be checking out your sources for seeded eucalyptus, as I have been searching for it without much luck. (I had to laugh about your comment of the velvet pumpkins being used for weeks and not rotting! As much as I love using pumpkins, gourds, and fruit in decor, the real stuff can go bad so quickly indoors.)
I can’t wait to start decorating for fall. Love the colored leaves, pumpkins, and mums. Best time of the year. Your display of the velvet is so enticing!
