Last minute ideas for easy Halloween decor. Includes quick and budget friendly ideas for adding DIY Halloween decorations to your existing fall decor.
Up today are some ideas for easy Halloween decor that you can add to the fall decor you already have, without changing the existing decor one bit. I get just as much enjoyment out of things I do at the last minute as I do out of things that take a bunch of planning…sometimes even more. These DIY Halloween decorations are quick, and easy on the budget.
Halloween on the Porch
First up is the porch. When October rolls around, I’m ready to add pumpkins to our porch. I also like to make sure that whatever I add will work all the way to Thanksgiving.
I saw a beautiful wreath from Pottery Barn, and it was perfectly neutral…but way out of my price range. So I did what any self-respecting blogger would do…I made a knockoff! This neutral fall wreath idea was so simple, and I really enjoyed the process.
In addition to the wreath, I replaced the mums in my planters with neutral faux pumpkins. I left the existing ivy, and wrapped it around the base of the pumpkins to hold them in place.
Free Printable Wall Art
One of the easiest, and most budget-friendly, ways to add Halloween decor to your home is to frame free printables. I have put together a collection of Halloween printables exclusively for OSP email subscribers, and you can get access by filling out the form at the end of this post.
Festive Pillow Covers
One of my favorite (and one of the easiest) ways to add seasonal decor is to change out my pillow covers. Last year I used the dark orange lumbar pillows pictured above. The color might seem unexpected, but I love the way they popped off the neutral background.
Happy Halloween Printable Banner
I love seasonal decor that can go up quickly, and come down with absolutely no fuss. That’s what this Happy Halloween Banner is…easy, effortless, and possibly free Halloween decor. To give the banner a vintage feel, I used an antique script background and an Old English font. The letters are formatted to print two to a page, so there’s no paper waste.
Ideas for Easy Halloween Decor
- Add pumpkins.
- Add fun and festive pillow covers.
- Use pops of fall color. Another great idea is to use berries in autumnal tones, especially orange, to bring in a subtle touch of Halloween cheer. Place the stems in pitchers, pile them on a mantel or shelf, or make an arrangement in your favorite bowl.
- Take advantage of free printables!

Looks great Ann ! Love everything !
Hi Ann ~ I love the black crows! They have a touch of whimsy and humor about them. I always love to see how you decorate for the different seasons and various holidays because I think you do it simply but with high visual impact. Then you share all your ideas with us! Thanks so much! Caw, caw! LOL.
easy and not overly “cute”, which I like….
Ann, I love your crows (or Ravens). My son, on the other hand, would not. LOL I laugh because he is 21 and should not be worried about a bird.. But that is another story
Those are all such cute ideas…simple, easy and quick. I have not done much for fall this year with all that is going on here. Thanks for the printables, too. xo Diana
Ohhhh, I think Ravens are part of the scaryness of Halloween. I can see them flying in front of last night’s Hunters moon, spooky!
Love it! Kathleen in Az
I love, love the “Nevermore” printable! Thank you so very much
Enjoyed all of your creative ideas. I also find pleasure in decorating at the last minute, or at least adding to my holiday decor at the last minute. I’m single so can suit myself and don’t have to plan around a great deal of cooking or entertaining. Appreciate the links to the products you used as well.
This is a great post – I love the use of the ravens and TY for the downloadable prints! Where did you find the olive buckets? They are great! Love your blog!
Hi Ann- Such an easy way to add Halloween! Love it! laura
I love the ravens just enough scary!!!
Dear Ann,
I am older and no kids on my street so why am I decorating? Ha ha. Teve said it best – Tradition. Not much outside and a little in. My mom, as she got older did the same. Some of what I have was hers. I couldn’t throw it away. I miss mom all the time but as much as I love the coming holidays I am missing her more than ever. I love the ravens. God Bless.
I love all of your decorating ideas! I have borrowed so many of them. But I just have to say no to the jack o lantern pillow. I find it a little jarring in your beautiful room. Maybe I just need to the the whole room.
I find the jack-o-lantern pillow stunning in that room!
Thanks for sharing these great ideas to make at the last minute, love them all, my favorite is how well you use those dry flowers just adding to them some small pumpkins and you make something great!!
Love also the pumpkin pillow!
