Last minute ideas for easy Halloween decor. Includes quick and budget friendly ideas for adding DIY Halloween decorations to your existing fall decor.
When it comes to Halloween, I believe there are two groups of people. There’s those who love Halloween, and there are those who would rather skip right over it! If you are looking for some middle ground, you are in the right place. These simple touches of Halloween decor can be added to your current fall setup without changing anything. What follows are DIY Halloween decorations that are fast, budget-friendly, and most can be done at the last minute!
Halloween on the Porch
First up is the porch. When October rolls around, I’m ready to add pumpkins to our porch. I also like to make sure that whatever I add will work all the way to Thanksgiving. A few years ago, I saw a beautiful wreath from Pottery Barn, and it was perfectly neutral. But it was way out of my price range. So I did what any self-respecting blogger would do…I made a knockoff! This neutral fall wreath idea was so simple, and I really enjoyed the process.
In addition to the wreath, I removed the faded flowers, and placed beautiful faux pumpkins in the planters. I left the existing ivy, and wrapped it around the base of the pumpkins to hold them in place.
Free Printable Wall Art
One of the easiest and most budget-friendly ways to add Halloween decor to your home is to frame free printables. I have put together a collection of Halloween printables exclusively for OSP email subscribers, and you can get access by filling out the form at the end of this post.
Festive Pillow Covers
One of my favorite (and one of the easiest) ways to add seasonal decor is to change out my pillow covers. The color of the dark orange lumbar pillows pictured above might seem unexpected, but I love the way they pop off the neutral background. And you have to admit, they are perfect for Halloween!
String Up A Banner
I love seasonal decor that can go up quickly, and come down with absolutely no fuss. That’s what this Happy Halloween Banner is…easy, effortless, and possibly free Halloween decor. To give the banner a vintage feel, I used an antique script background and an Old English font. The letters are formatted to print two to a page, so there’s no paper waste.

Berries + Stems
Enhance your fall decor by adding pops of autumnal color with berries and stems in rich tones like deep orange, warm red, and golden yellow. These simple accents bring a subtle hint of Halloween cheer without overwhelming your space. Place the stems in pitchers, pile them on a mantel or shelf, or make an arrangement in your favorite bowl.
