Welcome back to The Curated Life…a cozy midweek pause filled with holiday inspiration, comforting ideas, and simple ways to make the season feel meaningful. As the days grow shorter and the weeks fill with activity, I hope this space offers a little calm, a bit of beauty, and reminders to slow down and savor the moments that matter most. I’m so happy you’re here.

1.) the thoughtful holiday guide

I’ll be honest…this is the point in the season when my energy starts to dip. I’m still wrapping presents, still checking things off the list, and still trying to work ahead so I can slow down later. Online shopping has truly been my saving grace this year, and a few small habits have made the whole process feel calmer and more manageable.

• Make a simple list before you start. Seriously…this is so helpful. I jot down who’s left to buy for and a couple of ideas for each person. It helps me stay focused and keeps me from wandering into the land of impulse purchases.
• Try to order sooner rather than later. Delays always seem to happen in December, so placing orders now means everything has a much better chance of arriving on time.
• Shop from places you trust. At this time of year, familiar retailers feel like a gift. Easy returns and reliable shipping take away so much stress.
• Bundle your orders when you can. Buying from one or two places saves on shipping and keeps the doorstep from filling with endless boxes.
• Add gift wrap to your cart. Tape, tags, ribbon…all the little things we forget. Having what you need on hand makes wrapping much easier when everything arrives.

If you’re feeling a little tired already…I’m right there with you. Just remember that simplifying where you can is not only allowed, it’s wise. A few thoughtful steps now give you more room to breathe later in the month.

2.) WORDS WORTH SHARING

“LIFE is like a book, some chapters break you, some heal you and some surprise you. But unless you turn the page, you’ll never know what the next part of your story could be.”

3.) The Follow-Up File

After I shared our front porch last Sunday, a couple of readers asked if I could show a full view of the space. They were right. The photos I posted were more like little glimpses. In my defense, getting a true “whole porch” shot is tricky with my camera lenses, and it’s something I’ve always struggled with. But I pulled out my iPhone this week and managed to capture two wider images that give a better sense of the entire space. They’re not perfect, but they feel honest…and I’m glad to be able to share them with you.

4.) Gather + Savor

I’m putting the finishing touches on a new gingerbread recipe, and if all goes well, I’ll have it ready for you next week. In the meantime, you might enjoy revisiting a couple of reader favorites. This Snickerdoodle Bread makes the sweetest little loaves for gifting, and it fills your kitchen with the most wonderful scent. If you’re planning ahead for holiday baking, my Eggnog Bread is another delicious option. It’s incredibly moist, freezes beautifully, and always gets rave reviews.

5.) THINGS WORTH MENTIONING

  • What’s ahead: Our living room is officially decorated for Christmas, and I’m really happy with the understated, calm feel of how everything came together. I’ll be sharing it this weekend for A Sunday Well Spent. And on Saturday, I have a few updated, timely ideas that I think will be especially helpful in these early days of December. I hope they’re just what you need as you ease into the season.

  • What you might have missed: things were a little slower on the blog last week as we settled into the holiday. Our Thanksgiving was quiet but truly lovely…full of our familiar dishes and the easy rhythm of a long weekend at home. On Sunday I even made a pot of Turkey and Rice Soup, using leftover turkey in place of the chicken from this recipe. It turned out delicious…warm, simple, and so comforting.
  • The OSP Christmas Market is open and freshly updated. It’s organized into eight sections so there’s no overwhelm as a result of too many choices. It’s carefully curated with your tastes and budgets in mind. I also made a shop section that includes everything I’m using for this year’s holiday decor. Take a look HERE. XO

  2. Hi Ann,
Happy Holidays! I made your egg nog bread with glaze last year and it was delicious! I will try your snickerdoodle bread this year! Thank you for all of the great recipes you post. My senior neighbors love your breads, I gift to them for Christmas.

  3. I’ve always been curious what the full porch looked like; thanks for posting these pictures! I love fact that it is covered and the snow stays in the yard and not all over the chairs, etc! My “porch” gets packed up with the first Fall rains so I’m slightly envious!
