1.) The Thoughtful Holiday Guide

This week is all about getting a head start on gift wrapping supplies. It might feel early, but a little planning now can save you a lot of stress later. Take a few minutes to look through what you already have. Check your boxes, tissue paper, ribbons, tags. Make a quick list of what youโ€™ll need. Knowing what you need in advance will allow you to shop sales and take advantage of discounts. If you have the space, set up a small wrapping station so you can wrap gifts as you buy them.

Wrapping gifts has always been one of my favorite parts of Christmas, so I take the time to add tissue inside the box, and a pretty bow to each package. But if thatโ€™s not your thing, keep it simple. There are so many beautiful pre-made bows and darling gift bags available now that make wrapping quick and easy, without losing that special touch. If youโ€™d like a little inspiration, Iโ€™ve gathered several Christmas gift wrap ideas that show simple, beautiful ways to make your packages feel extra special.

2.) Finding Steady Ground

Weโ€™re entering that stretch of the year when two holidays start to overlap. Planning for Thanksgiving while also preparing for Christmas can feel like a juggling act, but it doesnโ€™t have to be overwhelming. The key is to keep things simple. If we wait to begin Christmas prep until after Thanksgiving, December will almost certainly feel rushed. But by taking small steps now, we give ourselves room to enjoy each moment later. This is also the time to find steady ground in the middle of the busyness. Keep the next few months in perspective, take one thing at a time, and give yourself grace when plans shift. With a calm heart and a steady pace, we can savor Thanksgiving and still step into the Christmas season feeling centered, peaceful, and ready. Some years I wonder if it will all work out, and by mid-November, I’m filled with doubt. But this year I have a very good feeling. I know we can do it.

3.) Magazine-Worthy Made Simple

Take a stroll through The Gable House by Studio McGee. A home that feels both fresh and familiar. The rooms are bright and open, filled with soft textures, natural wood, and plenty of cozy details. Itโ€™s the perfect blend of timeless style and everyday comfort. Click through the full tour, then come back here for a few easy ideas you can try in your own home.

How to Get the Look

  • Add a personal touch with a monogram. The monogrammed pillow on the sofa is a simple detail that makes the whole room feel warm and personal. If embroidery isnโ€™t your thing, many decor websites will monogram for a minimal extra fee.
  • Hang plates on the wall. In the family room, a collection of plates creates a pretty, unexpected focal point. You can recreate the look by grouping a few favorite dishes or platters, vintage or new, above a sideboard, shelf, or sofa.
  • Bring in soft light. The small lamp on the bookshelf adds warmth and dimension, especially at night. Adding a lamp in an unexpected place, like a shelf or countertop, instantly makes a space feel cozier. These little cordless lamps are the easiest way to add this charming feature.
  • Mix dining chairs for character. The upholstered chairs at the ends of the dining table add softness and a custom look. If your set is all wood, consider swapping just the end chairs for something with fabric.

4.) Gather + Savor

Snickerdoodles have a way of reminding us why simple recipes are often the best. This little collection celebrates that cozy flavor with a few fun twists, including two pumpkin variations that are just right for November baking. Whether youโ€™re in the mood for something traditional or a little seasonal, these recipes are simple, sweet, and full of comfort.

5.) THINGS WORTH MENTIONING

  • What’s ahead on Sunday: On Saturday I’m sending an edited collection of Christmas printables. Included are some old favorites, plus three brand new designs that I hope you will love. For the next edition of A Sunday Well Spent, I’m sharing a new recipe for Creamy Chicken Orzo Soup. This is perfect for right now, and it’s also a great way to use up leftover turkey.
  • What you might have missed: Last weekend was all about dried orange slices. I showed you how to make them yourself, and then I made a cute little wreath. If you need a little nudge to get you in the holiday spirit, these posts just might do the trick. Still to come is a recipe for orange quick bread, with a wrapping idea that makes it great for gift giving.
  • This is for those of you who make it to the end of these weekly posts: If I had known the ups and downs that come with blogging for a living, Iโ€™m not sure I would have had the courage to choose this path. When things are going well, itโ€™s uplifting and joyful. But when challenges appear, I find myself wishing I were smarter, more tech-savvy, and a little tougher. Iโ€™m learning new things all the time, and doing my best to keep up. There are highs and lows, just like in any job, but through it all, your kindness and encouragement mean more than I can say. Thank you for being here and for caring enough to read all the way to the end. Iโ€™m deeply grateful.

  23. I look forward to receiving your posts. I have seen many with the same complaints with blogging and Instagram and all the ‘must do’ to keep the public engaged. As a reader, I want to see what I have chosen to see. I don’t want a site making that decision for me. I’ll find what I’m looking for and all of you seem to follow ‘like minded’ bloggers, so I look for that too. Anyway, keep up the fun and inspiring posts! Blessings! Debbie
