Decorating with Lanterns: Easter Bunnies & Carrots

Decorating with Lanterns: Easter Bunnies & Carrots. A fun and easy way to switch things up seasonally. Choose a neutral set of lanterns that blends with all colors and decor styles.

The wait continues. Patiently or not so patiently…it depends on the day. I’m referring to spring of course. Still waiting but I’m determined to keep adding it to my decor whether it’s arrived on my doorstep or not. I’ve been decorating with lanterns for years so I decided to re-invent my set once again with an Easter spin.

I cleared off the dining room table and started layering. First an inexpensive IKEA runner and then a basket tray from Pottery Barn. (All shopping sources are listed below.) I filled the lanterns with dried grass and then added bunnies. The bunnies (and carrots) are from Pier 1. They have the most adorable faces and the eyes actually look real. I added an ironstone pitcher filled with pussy willows as the finishing touch. Neutral yet festive.

Investing in a neutral set of lanterns is a great way to get a lot of bang for your buck. They can be styled to go with the seasons, and they can be split up and moved around. Candles look great in lanterns but don’t be afraid to think outside the box. At Christmas I fill the lanterns with greenery or red balls. In the fall, they hold bittersweet. The sky is the limit when it comes to accessorizing a neutral set of lanterns.

Ann, your vignette is adorable with those bunnies inside those lanterns! I had those same carrots from Pier 1 in my hand, then I put them down, picked them back up, and finally put them down. After seeing this, I sure wish I’d bought them! Pinning!

Lovely table setting and it so looks like Spring! It will come – eventually – it always does. But this year it’s really making us wonder if this might be the one time it doesn’t show up!

  7. Ann…I love how you made these lanterns look so spring~like! I saw the bunnies and carrots at Pier 1 but had no idea how to make such a cute vignette which would “ground” them. Love this!!

Creative and lovely centerpiece. BTW, pussy willows are a part of the Easter tradition in the Russian Orthodox Church. Russian Orthodox Christians hold pussy willows on palm Sunday instead of palm fronds that don’t grow in the frozen north.

  10. So cute and I sure hope spring comes and stays soon. It keeps teasing us here.

Ann, I’m writing a post about lanterns for a Musical Monday post featuring the song “Lanterns” by Birds of Tokyo. Do you mind if I feature one of these photos with links back to this post? I love these, and it would be perfect for my post.
